║ If you look closely at the sky, you might catch a glimpse of
║ a flying white phoenix. Legend says it carries its white coat
║ as a symbol of peace, found after its flame has passed.
This take on 'freedom' is meant to capture the different emotions that come with and after hardship - joy, relief, bittersweetness, nostalgia.
The jam's prompt and image's color & bird inspired the 'white pheonix' concept, drawn in Sketchbook, to try to symbolize a bit of personal meaning - difficult experiences can be intense but also very instructive and lead to growth and peace. In this version, its white color in place of fire denotes peace and freedom.
Musically, my inspiration came from the artcore and cinematic styles, with an Eastern tone and bit of bossa nova. I found one main motif, intended to be fluid in how it develops and visits different emotions, with a few sections having a general focus.
0:00 - Joy / Playful
0:44 - Expansiveness
1:30 - Soaring, empowerment
1:50 - Free, calm
With more time, I'd focus on mixing / filling gaps especially in the final section and add instruments / longer sections--but I'm happy with what I've gotten to and learned in the time.
Fl Studio was used for composing and mixing/mastering, and most libraries from orchestral tools (check out their student discount or their new free orchestral library if this interests you!)

Absolutely one heck of a musical journey! I loved your music selection and how it evolved over the piece. I couldn't be a bigger fan of the strings and chime combo, it really gave it such a light touch.

this was such a gorgeous piece... every orchestral element was done so beautifully and the vocals toward the end oh my god.... i love how complex the progression feels, it feels like a real adventure to listen to, amazing amazing work, some of the best composition ive seen!!

Felt that the mix could've used a bit of reverb to glue everything together, since to me some instruments like the piano felt pretty compared to the orchestra.

This composition is inspirational I love this SO much. That composition is packed with so much emotion and basically every flavor of freedom I can think of. This is probably a personal preference and incredibly minor, but I felt like the bigger swells could have some more reverb or textures to really make the space feel as huge and soaring as the melodies are. Again, very very minor and I think as it is the closer, more intimate sound works wonders for the quieter and more plucky parts. Phenomenal work!
This wastes absolutely no time in showing off some impressive melody writing, spread across so many instruments as well. Effortlessly weaving around one another and providing just the necessary support to prop each line up without it becoming overcrowded. The orchestration in this is really tasty - playing more on the subtle side of things while also flourishing when given the opportunity. Some really nice use of articulation throughout this, and a solid understanding of dynamics and how best to use them to push a piece.
The vocals were unexpected but fit perfectly, providing this very organic layer to the piece as a whole. That crescendo and flourish at the end felt like such a powerful release. Produced really well, and the mixing never felt too crowded despite the sheer amount of elements taking place at once.
Fantastic job - genuinely breath-taking piece that demonstrates your chops incredibly well. This is tight, and I would love to hear what an entire soundtrack would sound like from you. All the best, I think this is one of the strongest submissions I've come across.

the track is just beautiful woooooooow i loved this listen so much, it was very refreshing. around the last part where it picks up with the vocals and everything just.. wow - amazing work on that part it builds up and just works so well

The instruments and the mixing are nice, but there was too much happening for me. A bit of repetition would be nice to keep the music more memorable. It's not labeled as experimental for nothing. I still enjoyed it!

oh, this is FANTASTIC — the evolution of the instruments to match the distinct vibes you were aiming to convey through the piece's playtime, the carefully added ornamentation and velocity variation to add that human touch... very well done! this could work very well in a cinematic of a videogame, definitely a cutscene though since the track explores different moods.
a shame about the timeframe cutting off potential mixing time; this track in its writing and arrangement is stellar already and would just be even more amazing with more mixing!

Best use of the theme for the rhythms I've seen all jam I think. I too tried to make my instruments feel free with an improv style, but these feel free in a more natural way which is beautiful!

Consider me mindblown, the sound selection, layering, arrangement, and genre mix were all excellent. Only thing I might comment on is that the differences in dynamic ranges surprised me a bit when it got louder.
