Description
Orchestral track written using Finale 27. I imagine this game as a side scrolling platformer/stealth game, but the music I wrote is intended to be a main theme for our protagonist.
Message from the artist
I didn't have as much time as I would've liked, but I guess that's kinda the whole point of the jam haha. I had more ideas of how to develop this theme, but they were left on the cutting room floor so that I could at least get something submitted!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I was really inspired by the 'Freedom' theme couple with the character's defiant pose in the picture theme. I imagined that the was captured as the last survivor of a family who fought in a resistance against some sort of evil regime. Desperate to escape her evil captors, she begins to lose hope. She looks outside to find a raven flying overhead, a symbol of her family's resistance movement. Taking it as a sign, she resolves to escape from the prison and continue the fight against tyranny.
Overall, I wanted to write a theme that captured the defiance of rebellion, the yearning for freedom, and a melancholy innocence that represents the young character in the picture theme.

the transition at 1:38 really caught my attention, i think that ending section really showcases how well this track encapsulates the desire and struggle for freedom in a hopeful light. well done!
Oh yeah, this is uplifting and powerful. Love all the movements here, especially the way it swells up into that ending full of tension. Sounds great, beautiful composition, really I'd just like more haha, great work!
As others have already said - the orchestration here is fantastic. Each section feels as though it was hand-crafted with care, all playing into their own strengths and bolstering the rest of the instrumentation. There's some really beautiful movement with the strings around a third of the way in, and some great use of various articulations. I also have to give kudos to the orchestral percussion in this - it feels so natural. I myself struggle with how best to utilize percussion to its fullest, so hearing it done well always makes me want to take notes.
The movement's progression is really nice, and the melodies present throughout are pleasant to listen to. As a whole the piece feels very evocative and so easy to get lost in - in the best way possible. Fantastic layering instruments and produced and mixed well to boot. Stellar work!

I think this track really illustrates what you described, so pretty good job ! I feel the youth and innocence of the character, the rebellion and the search for freedom. The orchestration and the composition are nice, keep it up !
I loved this track through and through, really has that royal themed JRPG sound, something like Ni no Kuni comes to mind when listening to this track.
The strings and horns really elevate the piece in that movement to make it seem like there's a sense of defiance, really cool that the piece mirrored your idea so well! Otherwise I just really enjoyed the piece as a whole, could imagine it in like the Octopath soundtrack, great work!

I also think this fits the theme really well in terms of the vibe and instrumentation which is very important to me.
Super cinematic ! The harmony bring us between tense and heroic moments, over a nice symphonic sound that I feel fits the theme and narrative concept quite well. Great moments 1:15 kind of dreamy break, and satisfying 1:40 climax, with the harmonic change. If you did decide to add more to it, I'd love to hear it :
