Description
Yo, quick entry from me this time. It's generally a techno track/live set composed of several loops (all original) interchanging with each other and being mixed around by some automation/generative techniques and by me operating the knobs. I envisioned a short walking-sim/experience where the whole playthrough consists of one pass through an imaginary nightclub during a dream sequence the player character is experiencing. Prisoner by day, player's character has recurring dreams of the nightclub they revisit each night. The music is loud, the club is full and the player is experiencing this as something on the verge of being real, a fever dream, with every beat ringing in their head and hihats sizzling around their ears. The music is one track only (named "pass 1") NOT ONLY because I took my time with mixing everything and was super lazy, but also because each pass is unique to the player. The idea is every loop of this composition would be a modifiable part of the whole experience. The main inspiration for this is the pizza-making minigame from Cosmo D's Tales from Off-Peak City Vol. 1, where every ingredient has its own intrumental part assigned and when you add it on the pizza, the soundtrack changes accordingly. Here the music would change depending on the route chosen through the dancing crowd, the people seen on the way, the mental and physical state of the character etc. Each visit to the club is randomised, but also depends on what the player decides to focus on - the holy glow around the DJ, the girl with an empty stare you know from somewhere, the menacing white-collar persona with a cigarette eyeing the player with that phosphorus glow in their uncannily animalistic eyes... Player can trip, causing the music to drift away for a second of terror as they try to get up. This chaotic dream visit terminates when player reaches the other side of the club and exits through the door, coming back to their grim everyday reality - prison cell.
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
Idea of escaping the prison through a recurring dream, getting more and more psychodelic and unexplainable each time player revisits it's lukewarm embrace. Also the freedom in terms of open composition consisting of loops being rearranged freely by the game's mechanics.

Smoothly evolving techno, with lots of effects, synths and rhythms? Give me two!
Good job :>
P.S. Rawr
Loved the game idea, super unique! The automation bringing out all the different parts of the track as you walk through the club was super cool, really subtle and seamless
thank you for sharing the context and inspiration for your track!! i love it when games do dynamic music by omitting and fading in different instrument stems to build an interesting musical soundscape.
i really enjoy the concept you came up for your videogame, the psychedelic nightclub mood really shines through in your track! the tension level remains somewhat high throughout the track, making for an unnerving vibe, which is great considering the backstory of the main character. :~)
The context you described is very intriguing and I can totally see all of this being adaptive to the game world. That bassline is so solid, and the use of automation here really helps sell the scene of walking around the nightclub. Every melodic element flows seamlessly into each other and has its own character so it always stayed interesting while also feeling out of the way (in a good way).
This is pretty solid - I can easily envision it in the context you've described. It has that kind of quality to it that makes it easy to get lost in. Tuning out the world around and imagining it as an aural backdrop while playing the game helps to really put it in context and appreciate the gradual progression throughout the track.
There's a nice variety of voicings and patches that continue to add some intrigue with each and every layer that comes and goes. Good use of panning to really put the stereo-field to use, too. I like the little dips we get with the filters past the half-way point, they do a good job of providing some more motion and break the standard rhythm up a little to keep it engaging.
Solid work. Well produced and mixed.
Yo, I love the concept, and I think it would work wonders withing the actual game you describe. It feels a bit repetative and slow in "song form" though.
I really like the bass melodies throughout however, along with the general vibes. The psychodelic feelings and "fever dreamishness" you describe definately came through!
Great work!

Nice work! Great vibes, sound and mix! Maybe consider some variation in groove or dynamics to keep it interesting throughout!
I really like that you thought about an adaptive approach, I can totally imagine getting to the club multiple time and having a different experience each time depending on the choices and the current state of the story for example. Maybe it could have more variations and a little bit more of surprises. Nice job !
I liked the approach to the theme. However, I found that the track progressed very slowly. The drums could have been more pronounced for example.
wow this is long! 7 mins!
nice track i like the automation over time
Adaptive music for freedom fits pretty well I think!
With the track being over 7 minutes long, the drums and basic melody that plays in most of them began to get a little weary. I understand that it is meant to be broken up by different gameplay segments, but its something I noticed with how it's presented here.
big fan of this rearrangeable combination of loops based on game environment idea, im really liking the minimalist feel of this too
Your description of the track really fits the vibe of the music itself! I also like how the music feels a bit oppressive and heavy, again, aluding to what you described.
The production is great and the instrumentation is fun to listen to!
Great job!
Very unique take on the theme, nice!
