Description
The song is inspired by both - 'freedom' and picture theme.
I imagined a sci-fi game, something between Cyberpunk and Watchdogs Legion, written around the themes of freedom, rebellion, biohacking, etc. The track could serve as a kind of Main Theme, appearing with titles, cut scenes and some major events, like boss fight etc.
The cyberpunk inspirations are the reason the music has a lot of electronic elements, drum&bass foundation and a few synths. But I also wanted to give it some cinematic feel so I experimented a bit with blending orchestral stuff with electronic stuff. At the end I decided to use the guitar, which is my main instrument, to write the main motif.
I used Ableton Live and my electric guitar.
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
I hoped to code into this track the kind of freedom, which begins as a single emotion and then grows, connects and escalates into an epic movement.

hello?! what an awesome track, those dnb section sounds real fresh
Ahem... COOL KICKS! Oh, and the electronic-space music theme itself is good, too....
It makes you want to fly a ship and shoot at astheroids.
I got sort of cyberpunk Jason Bourne vibes from this, really cool track!
Sheeeesh, it shows that there was thought behimd this.
I really like the percussion driving the main part of the track, but the beginning sold me from the first few seconds already, I really like the crackling and the orchestral chord changes during that.
The guitar at the end was really well mixed and fit like a glove.
I would have liked to see elements of the beginning section return at the end as a bookend, but it was great as is.
Great work!
:]
Really like the way the mood progresses through the track, definitely feels like a main menu theme that covers all the emotional beats that you'll be hearing through the story. The drums especially sound fantastic, great work!
Interesting vibes in this - I originally thought that strange crackling could have possibly been on my end! The string work at the beginning is solid; nice use of varying articulations to continually build up and the slight fake-out on the crescendo was clever. Tone the track changes drastically thereafter.
The drum and bass section goes hard - loving the beat and surrounding pads panning out. The bass is just on the fringe of overdrive which I love, and it adds some nice motion to the track. The patch used around the 2:20 mark is fantastic - the slight portmanteau gives the beginning of each note a nice little bounce. I also really like how the orchestration is re-introduced as the track nears its end, harkening back to the beginning but getting to now hear everything fully in context.
The guitar at the end was unexpected (much like the original break!) but really welcome. Vibes here are immaculate in a lot of ways, and the melodies are fantastic. Nice A and B lines to complement one another, and it does well to cleanse the palate before finishing up.
This is great, I never quite knew where it was going but I enjoyed the journey. Production is solid throughout and everything is mixed well. Overall a pretty unique take on the theme and well executed at that. Great job.
Thank you so very much! This is so in-depth, you broke the track down better than I could haha I'm really happy you like it!
Very well written! Great vibes, great sound, great mixing. Keep it up!
i had a lot of predictions as to what might happen as the track was playing, and they got answered as i kept listening! very cheeky, very well composed! the gritty introductory crackling that goes away once the energy of the track changes at 0:59, the breathing room for the filtered background percussion to shine briefly at 2:19 since the main drums are prominent otherwise...
i'm also curious as to where this might fit for the videogame concept? it feels very fitting as trailer music, personally! :D
Thank you! Yeah, I was thinking about it as a main theme for titles and such, so trailer is a great idea for it too!
ooo, that would be good too!! games tend to use their trailer tracks sonewhere in the final product anyway; the track has the right feel for the title theme fs
The variety of textures and feelings is fantastic, and the guitar bits are awesome.
1:56 - adds that little special something, how did you decide to include it?
And 3:31... 3:31 - is easily my favourite section of the whole composition, it sounds wonderfully, and I mean it.
The only thing I have to question is how would this track work in a hypothetical game? Like, a cutscene, a trailer or something else? It is really varied, so maybe it could fit in a lot of places, but it doesn't seem to have any particular alignment, at least from my perspective.
9.5/10. Fabulous submission.
Thank you very very much! This kind of arpeggios I used in 1:56 is my late discovery, they are such a great way to add 'excitement' without taking over the foreground. In terms of the usage I was thinking about it as a main theme, that could reappear in the most significant moments, being a title theme as well.
I'm definitely getting Cyberpunk vibes from this! The guitar parts were great, it added a lot. I think a more involved bass part would help bring some more oomph to the track. Good job!
Thank you!!
That beat was amazing!!! I love how it creeped in. In a matter of fact, I loved how everything creeps in on you. It's like you weren't expecting these turns, but it all works really well. Nicely done.
Thanks a lot! That really makes me happy, because being too obvious is probably one of my biggest fears when creating compositions!
Loved this! Great harmonies, great melodies, great build-ups - just great all around.
The production here is fantastic, and I could only imagine how much more amazing everything could sound if you had more time!
Great jib!
Thank you!
at first I didn't really like the song, with the clicking and all. but when the guitar came in I immediately changed that perspective. AMAZING WORK!
Thanks! Yup, the clicking is one thing that got me by surprise - on the headphones I kind of liked the effect but then, when I listened to it on the laptop speaker, only after I rendered and uploaded the whole thing, I realised it sounds very broken hahah if I had a bit more time to revisit the track I'd probably turn it down or just change
Nice little ear candy things in this song, great guitar playing too! i really liked this track.
Thank you very much!
I love like every single bit of this so much. I love that half a second break before it continues I love it when songs do that and I really like when that happened I was like "They did the thing I like". Big fan of the drums and guitar, especially the guitar it was so fun to listen to the softer parts when it begins to build up again. I love the build up too, when all the noise just stops playing and the bass kicks in for the first time, and then the music just explodes I love it Awesome job!!!!
Thank you so much!
The beat drop into the drums was really well done!
I do wish to know more of your thought process for how it fits the theme and why you made the decisions you did. It adds a lot of depth to the music when I can listen for your thoughts.
Really enjoy the guitar in the track, feels really spacious and lush. Could definitely see this being used in an OST that feels like Stray or like Xcom - has that eerie dystopian city vibe. Nice!
Literally 1984 lol
