What a twist! I think I have never seen a game like this. Great idea! It was fun to think about the positions and combinations of the turrets, so that (SPOILER!) you can let the rebels kill the King.
The visual side is authentic to the experience and the audio is nice. It could just do with a little more levels and turrets.
Great work, I really did enjoy playing this.
More interesting twists like this! The way of changing your mind in the middle of the game is nice and it would be even nicer if the towers had classic things like vision, visible directions where they shoot, etc.
But the change in the middle of the game could have been communicated a little better.
I was also a little surprised by the king who kept rising from the dead :)
However - I had a lot, a lot of fun and I think I have a new favorite genre of games. Defense-less games.
I have the understanding that one of the main downsides is that the player does not have enough information (tower range, shooting directions, stats of towers and enemies, even lore etc.) and that this is a classic problem of game jam games. Thank you for valuable feedback!
The idea of anti-defense is lovely. I really want more levels to enjoy :-).
It would also be nice to have the ability to replay some level, as I would be interested if other strategy would work as well, but not enough to play through all of the previous levels.
A tower defense game with an interesting twist.
I liked the variety of towers and a decent amount of levels. The story makes sense (even if it was a bit rushed). The art style is cohesive and actually pretty nice. The music and sound effects work well with the visuals and feel like they belong.
Now to some negatives. I think it was a shame to get two new turrets only in the last level. It would also be nice to know what a tower does before placing it.
When it came to the ingredients I clearly saw "my home, my castle" and "devil's advocate". The "reincarnation" felt a bit like an afterthought. I'm not sure about "sacrifice" - I get that you lose your job but you are happy about it, because you wanted to help the coup. But in general I see them.
Overall a good, cohesive game. Everything worked and the overall polish was actually pretty good. The story felt a bit rushed and so did the turret progression (I understand this is because of time). Good job!
Thanks for the kind words. We would love to flesh out the main downsides as an update! Including better information about turrets and of course, more levels. The UI still has much to be desired; below is one example of what is missing.
Very hilarious twist in the middle of the game. It would be cool if you had more towers with unique behaviors that would allow for more tactical deployment or if the towers had some synergies with each other like being able to destroy each other's bullets. I finished the game and it was great. Good job. (Be more careful with the sounds next time. The tower sounds are way too loud.)
Thank you so much for the review! I’m super stoked to see what we can deliver in the future and every bit of feedback helps. <3
