Theme incorporation
This game jam entry is based on the themes of Genre Fusion and Treasure Hunting.
In this game, I combined different gameplay elements with a treasure-hunting adventure set inside a dungeon.
The goal is to explore the dungeon, find keys to unlock sealed doors, fight enemies, and collect missing scroll fragments.
Some areas are hidden or locked away—you’ll need to switch into chicken mode (yes, you turn into a chicken!) to sneak through grates and reach hidden keys.
Once all the fragments are collected, place them on the altar to open a portal, where you'll claim the legendary spellbook: Arcanum Magnus.
I had a great time building this during the jam, and I hope you enjoy discovering all its secrets!

This game was good for most part, combat worked well and I like the idea and artwork of it. Problem with the game is that it just all feels the same thing for most part, I wish the chicken mode had some creative parts to it and combat worked but it was the same enemy so it felt basic. Boss fight I did not seem to do any damage but might be my own fault.
Good work on the game.
This was solid on all points. The graphics were great, the transformation mechanic was interesting, combat was a bit slow but once you start casting and sidestepping it becomes a lot faster :D, exploration was okay. I got confused a lot in the map layout at one point, but eventually found my way again. I agree that it would've helped if the locked doors were color coded to make orientation easier, but for a jam game it was fine and the length of the game didn't weigh against that.
What a fun entry! I defeated the boss and made it to the end! I really liked the implementation of the chicken mode, it was clever and changed things up. I like how you progressed getting stronger spells throughout. The combat was simple, but still enjoyable. Haven't danced much in this jam!
The control scheme was a bit strange. I'd prefer rebinding or WSAD instead of a mix of arrows and AD. It took some getting used to. The boss was kinda easy when you bypass all the traps and dance with him in the corner but that's ok, it's a jam!
Fun entry, gameplay below!
Well built dungeon crawler, great job! Finished in 11:16.
Art, music and sound effects are all nice and fitting. I enjoyed switching to the chicken mode, even though I was left wanting to something more than just a small appendixes through the grates, maybe a small maze or an area you can only reach as a chicken with bonuses (well maybe I’ve missed it!).
Battle system was simple, though easy to learn: you just dance with enemies and pepper them with spells! :D It definitely works perfectly fine for this scope and theme.
Controls were a bit odd and turning was a bit slow, but it felt all right at the end.
Final boss was not intimidating as you can just hide behind the glass walls and jump out to hit it with your spells.
Good job, really enjoyed this one :D
Control scheme was a little odd, but overall a solid dungeon crawler with a fun implementation of Chicken Mode.
Putting movement on the directional buttons and turning on A & D was very strange. Other than that it controlled pretty well.
It was fun collecting everything, especially getting into the vents with the Chicken. Everywhere is structured and looks kinda samey, but it's not so big that it becomes overwhelming. And everything's well presented for the most part with good visuals and efficient over-text.
I was a little misled by the podium, which made it look like there were nine pieces and not 4.
The combat was decent. Using some side steps and timed shots. And I appreciate that you added a Boss, even if I kinda struggled against it. Might not have won had I not hoarded so many mana potions.
Overall, solid entry!
/editI won in 0:13:29.
The game is fun. It looks good, movement feels good, combat feels fine although maybe a bit slow and floaty, and the chicken mode is cool. The structure of the game is not bad in the context although you kind of do the exact same thing multiple times. I like the resource management including chickens.
WASD could work on top of arrows. Also in practice I wasted my mana and had to wait, wonder if there could be an alternative (maybe a melee attack like someone previously mentioned).
Cool game.
Thank you very much, many comments mention problems with controls. This is because I don't have much knowledge on the subject. I will keep these comments in mind when I plan to make new games :)
The game looks great and has a nice vibe to it.
I got into some issues while using up all the chicks. I couldn't progress. had to restart the game.
The movement keys are wonky with combining arrows and A D. Also the movement could be a bit more snappier.
It took me awhile to figure out what the wall tile thing was in position 1. a spell..!!
There is some missing pixels between some tiles.
In the combat the enemies health bar is almost the same color as the roof and hard to distinguish.
Victory 2:07, prob timer resets on respawn.
The transformation skill is a nice feature, but I think it would suit the game better if it was something you acquired once and then could use indefinitely.
The spells looked different but acted in about the same way so they felt the same. Maybe some more variety there.
The keys looked different but the doors looked the same from what I could tell. Maybe make it a bit clearer what key goes where.
Graphics wise and mood were spot on, I really liked that in this game.
Good Job!
Thank you, I'm sure these comments will make me a better game developer :)
Really neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the Dungeon Crawler Jam.
Thank you, I'm so glad you included my game in your video :)
The chicken form movement was so good, remind me a bit of Lands of Lore II. Graphics are simple but nice. Cool that you include your stats in the end. Good work!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed my game :)
This is solid game jam entry how it should be. Simple, engaging to play and have fun. Thank you
Thank you very much, your comment made me very happy.
Nice little game - especially since this is your first game jam,
The texturepacks / spritesheets you used looks great and fitting for the game. The chicken thingy was a fun little gimmick :D
I've played through the game and two things I had problem with:
- The controls. I can't eg. drink a potion and move at the same time and the movement itself was smooth and nice but felt a bit slow and this way, clunky.
- No meele attack and the mana regen is a bit slow. Also I didn't really understand what could I use the air / water spells. The casting speed is the same for all of them and only earth and fire did significant damage to the enemies so the other spells felt more like a placeholder.
Thanks, yes there are some problems but they are all due to inexperience :) Spells really work correctly, yes their speed is the same but the damage they deal is different. It is a bit difficult to notice because when the enemy casts a spell at the same time as you they can block you with their spells, of course you can do the same. Of course these comments are very important, I should have created a more understandable structure :)
Short but sweet!
It's very polished and solid mechanics. The combat is a bit on the easy side but it worked and it enables people to progress through the game without too much difficulty.
Nice effect with the chicken :)
The controls were a little bit awkward for me at first since I'm left handed but I got used to it, and since it was such a short game it didn't bother me much.
Great job :)
Visually, everything looks good - but the controls are irritating. Arrows + A/D is an unholy fusion on its own. Movement and turning feels very slow, especially since chicken mode is time sensitive. The chicken mode is cool, but only seems to be used for the same key gimmick each time. Magic is your only attack and recovers so slowly, if you run out of potions, you're pretty much stuck kiting until you recover enough for a spell. I would have comments about the art and music, but those appear to be from asset packs.
Thank you very much for your interest, these are very valuable comments for a developer.
