Wow! An amazing game!
Very good game to play, I loved the rays mechanic.
Bit long travel times, and very easy fights with bots, but overall I loved the game, one of the best I played!
It's incredible how you've put everything together in 2 weeks, congrats!
Thank you so much! It means a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
This game was AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING! I can't believe you put this together in 2 weeks!!! Outstanding job. I was in love with the atmosphere, the music, my robo-bro getting philosophical with me. Everything was just fabulous. The puzzles weren't too difficult at all and I really appreciated that you gave players a couple extra boxes sometimes to help ease the difficulty a bit. Incredible design. I also adored the data pads - everyone had something going on and the interpersonal drama between the labcoats was absolutely fantastic. Exploring that and maybe even tying them to the actions of the player in some unexpected way would really blow this game up in a great way. Really, my only wish is that the game KEPT GOING! I'm totally hooked. Let me know when you update it after the jam is over. I'd love to play again.
Wow. Thank you so much for the kind words. It really means a lot. I'll be sure to let you know once the game has been updated.
The visuals and sound in this were very well done, nice work! Would love to see this further developed!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I've got a list of bugfixes, AI improvements, and quality of life additions that I've already started implementing that will be released after the jam ends. I don't think I'll be adding more story content to this game, but I will definitely be taking what I learned while making this game forward into my other projects.
Very solid game. I love that it's a fps with portal laser redirection cubes. There's a lot of content considering it's a game jam. The voicing, UI, objectives, most of the game felt really good. My biggest problem
is the ai would somewhat frequently not react to me shooting them.
Thanks for the kind words! And yeah, I left the AI in about as barebones a state as it could get and neglected updating it until it was too late and I was out of time. I really should have done combat OR puzzles. Trying to do both was too much. I still think it came out pretty great in the end, but the enemy AI definitely leaves a lot to be desired.
Congrats on this submission! I loved the feel of the game. You managed to convey your idea of a soulless world really well and the level design and interaction was great. The battles could have been a bit more challenging and the redirection cube handling just a little easier, otherwise this was one of the most polished entries I've tested so far.
I noticed a glitch where an enemy wouldn't die but kept following me without shooting. To ease cube handling, I suggest those already positioned should become kinematic to avoid pushing them away accidentally. Also some quick rotation function might be helpful. I found my robot friend hard to understand sometimes; subtitles would be a useful addition for after the jam.
Thank you so much for the kind words. And thank you for the constructive feedback. I will be updating the game as soon as the game jam has ended. I'm in the process of overhauling the combat and adding subtitles. I'll look into improve the redirection cube handling as well.
Nice job Tyler! I clipped through one of the doors but other than that no funny stuff. Enjoy the puzzles, shooting and atmosphere!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
What door did you clip through and did it cause any issues? Did you do it intentionally or by accident? I plan to fix any issues people come across and update the game after the jam ends.
Hey, good job! I couldn't complete the game because the quest and waypoint system got borked up. That started when I tried to kill the security robots but 2 would not die, so the quest never updated. I was able to skip it and get the reactor open but after that could not progress nor figure out what to do. It kept telling me to start the reactor when the reactor was on.
Yes, unfortunately this is a known issue that sometimes occurs. It will be fixed as soon as the jam ends. I apologize you didn't get the full experience. I hope you enjoyed what you did get to experience though.
Yeah it was a nice experience. The other critique I have is in the second area after you first rescue the robot you can kill all the security bots at range without triggering any of them so that a bit easy to cheese.
I liked the gameplay and the addition of the log files that you could find so really no criticism on your execution!
I do wish it was maybe a bit more original. Classic fps for the most part and the laser puzzles were nice but felt like a clone of Portal or The Talos Principle. I would have liked to see a mechanic or aspect that made it stand out. But it was very well done!
I 100% agree with your criticism. I felt the same way after getting the game into a playable state from start to finish. But my goal wasn't exactly to be inventive with this project, it was just to create a robust product that was complete as I haven't completed a project in several years. So I used this jam to get back into the habit of completing things.
I'll polish up the issues with this project and then I'm hoping that completing this jam project will give me the motivation to keep going and complete my other projects that have stagnated.
Thanks again! The constructive criticism is extremely helpful. I can't wait to start playing everyone else's games this weekend!
Totally fair and if I didn't make it clear before, it's a super solid project! My first game that I sold on Steam was a jigsaw puzzle game and for me that was also about learning and creating a manageable project start to finish :)
I was "wowed" when I stepped outside! Awesome work. The atmosphere stunned me and the puzzles were great!
Thanks you so much! That really means a lot!
I liked the addition of the data pads and the I also thought the puzzle mechanic was neat. Other than the fact that the player is able to break the game by locking themselves in the first room haha! It was a good time!
Yeah, I realized that was a possibility at a certain point but I didn't have time to redesign it or program in a workaround. I originally wanted the datapads to be audio logs like in bioshock, but again, didn't have time to record the dialogue. Security Robots were supposed to have some pretty fun lines too. Maybe after voting ends I'll update the game with those missing features and fixes.
I'm glad you liked the data pads. I'm really happy with how the datapads turned out both visually and their sound effects.
Well done, good puzzle mechanic, it was entertaining! Good luck!
Thanks. Out of curiosity how difficult did you find the puzzles? I didn't have time to have others playtest it.
I think the difficulty is fine, the shooter on the other hand feels slow when firing the bullets, but my only experience with shooters is competitive ones.
At the first door outside, I'm not sure if it's intentional, but when you take the laser out of the room, it ends up too high for a cube in the sand, or at least that was the most obvious thing. So I had to use an enemy body to give the cube height and manage to open the door haha
There is a little bit of sand inside the building that I always put the cube on that angled it down a bit. I did this every time apparently and only noticed the issue when I did a final playthrough just before submitting. That is probably one of the biggest errors and I completely missed it until right before the deadline when I didn't have time to fix it.
If anyone runs into this issue I apologize and the best I can do right now is suggest you use the sand inside the small building to angle the laser down a bit.
I thought that was part of the puzzle, I was able to use the sand bank as well. It seems I got stuck in the first task of killing the robot as apparently it was dead and alive and nothing else happened. I've seem that with one of the other robots further in the map. In general, great idea end implementation.
I do apologize about the robot being both dead and alive. I honestly don't know why that happened. I only ever had it happen once in my own playtesting and it never happened again so I assumed whatever I did at the time fixed the issue, but I guess not. Its a very rare bug that I haven't been able to replicate since, but I'll try to find a fix for it and update the game after the game jam voting ends.
