This is obviously in an early stage and needs a lot of polish, but you submitted a playable entry, so congrats on that! I played the first level, and my feedback is that enemies pop up quite late for my taste; one time I had no chance to react and they crashed straight into me. The controls are a bit too direct, some more indirect steering would feel more natural. Also the crosshairs should be "in" the game world, in front of the player, not on top, for this type of game. When the final ship appeared, there was no feedback at all and I wasn't sure whether my hits were counting, until the game returned to the start screen. The portrait and voice lines worked great, though. Keep it up!
The gameplay had a retro vibe, which was nice but needs quite a bit of work. Good starting point though.
Concept of the game was easy to understand, just execution was poor. The depth at which the cursor needs to be at has to be changed. Think in terms of where the marker is, there needs to be the hits. So if the marker is over the plane (due to canvas or art style of choice), where you aim to shoot might be where it just triggers the hits. If you want to give the players a way to fire and have some arch distance to cover, then that shapes the gameplay in a different scope (think Starfox 64 concept with 2 cursors or reticles to help players with depth perception). Hope these tips help! Good luck!
Nice game, those ships that sweep across the screen are brutal. Really liked the character portrait for the voice lines. Thanks for making.
After playing, I liked that the game was going for a classic arcade style game, I am always a fan of classic games. The thing that stood out to me was that the entry featured some voice lines which was unexpected! Good work!
The game is unfortunately unavailable for download or browser play :(
Fixed it. Not sure why it had it marked as no download when I made it a download. Please retry :)
Awesome! Im going to swing back around for yours then! Thanks for letting me know!
