Followed the development on the channel and really enjoyed playing the outcome. It's a very polished entry with a very original idea. I would have loved to have a visual reminder of which button meant what on the screen, but I learned it after a couple of minutes. My only real complaint is that I could throw plenty of coins at some characters without any effect and I wasn't sure whether that was intentional.
Some take multiple gold and gems. The nobles more than the mourners. There is a ? button on the bottom left that has all the keys listed.
Simple yet interesting concept. Kudos for originality!
Wild game! Took me a minute to figure out what was happening, but once I did it was pretty fun. I love the concept and the gameplay was refreshing and unique. The constant sobbing sounds got a little unnerving, so I was happy to see you included volume options! Great job
I just played the web version... didnt see bow and arrows anywhere, even holding left and right mouse buttons... maybe I should have tried the download version?
Very interesting idea and liked the game mode. All I focused on was spamming all the crowd with stuff. Maybe if that was restricted and not infinite might add some different challenges. Did not know how far I progress or how close I got to winning. Which I never did win. :)
You would hold down the left shift button to ready the bow. Instructions are on the launch page and in-game.
That makes a lot more sense. :) Still not able to beat the game but enjoyed shooting the guys off the roof
Solid game. Really enjoy the concept. I do have a few notes though. Nothing major, but just some little bits of polish I think could improve it. (I played the download version if that makes a difference)
The first bug I encountered quite a bit was that after switching back from bow mode the icons for what citizens wanted from me weren't appearing. They would eventually start appearing again, but I'm not sure what triggered them to reappear.
The second was some citizens had a red outline instead of green. I'm not sure if this one was a bug or not. I shot the red citizens and got deducted points, so I'm not sure why some were red. I'm also red/green colorblind, so telling friend from foe wasn't a simple task for me. Maybe the citizens weren't red, but they looked red to me.
I found the bow handling to be... lackluster. It was very difficult to hit my targets. The dropoff on the arrows was brutal.
Another thing that I'm not sure if it was a bug or not: some citizens wanted gold, but when I gave them gold it didn't take the icon away. I kept spamming them gold and eventually some of them accepted it, but I don't know if that is because it finally registered in code or because there was a desired amount they wanted that wasn't displayed to me.
Among the crying sound effects for mourners there was one sound effect that sounded more like a cry of pain or terror. Which I guess fits with there being archers, but it was a little jarring.
I went in expecting a whimsical sort of goofy game, but it ended up feeling pretty serious. Not a bad thing, just between the name and bright color palette I expected something a bit more whimsical. idk. Maybe that one is on me.
Solid game loop. Very difficult. Good job!
They thanks for the review! If you right click a mourner, it locks onto them. You have to right click another person or empty ground to get it back. Bit of a bug. The people with 0 loyalty will be a visible red and will throw things at the bier. Sometimes a not red showing but throwing things was bit of a "Hey who threw that?!". Some that show red when you hover are very low loyalty. You can shoot some of the red ones and get a positive score. But some may still be red or orange and still be somewhat loyal giving a negative score.
The bow was taking too much time. Had to move on. Its a little cumbersome but I just chalk it up to realism. :) The nobles will want a lot of gold. The mourners not so much. They are easy to please. Gold and Gems take multiple tosses. Originally, you could drag the mouse off a character in the procession to get them to toss things. That code is still there but not obvious. The Jesters will throw 10 gold at a time, the royal family will throw gold, gems, titles and food. The priests will throw books and blessings.
Some whimsical play was intended but just didn't have time so I focused on the gameplay then was planing on some comical cut scenes when the king fell.
Sorry about the color blindness.
Definitely a unique feeling game. It's interesting but the controls are kind of hard to get used to knowing where each thing to
give out is and the controls for the bow are a bit odd to me, but I didn't struggle with that one much. There's not a clear feeling of how far along you are.
Interesting, fun, motivating to try again with various strategies. Also very appealing visually.
I have not managed to reach the finishing line yet, but it feels like cheating that I can satisfy people quite efficiently by spamming keys 1 to 6.
In the Web version I couldn't click on any buttons in the main menu. Kudos for providing download and Web, though.
The game wouldn't load for me on Chrome. Sorry
Nice job! I did get a little bored but thought it was a unique game. Maybe add other mechanics to keep interest, or have it be a little shorter, or make the whole procession go a bit faster.
This was challenging. And fun. I especially liked shooting the archers down. I think allowing to scale up from only giving mourners 1 item at the beginning to them requiring more to the end would make it feel more balanced. Also adding a symbol to your ledged might help because it took a bit to match the symbols to the ledged. But I think you have a great little game here that could be really good with just a couple of tweeks.
Good concept, it does feel a bit repetitive and the physics can be a bit unforgiving. But with a bit more polish, the game has potential. Good job!
Thanks for the review!
Fun game. A few innocent bystanders took an arrow to the knee during my play through. Thanks for making.
Thanks!
Wow! Incredible work in all departments! It is always nice to find a handful of submissions that feel truly or almost complete and this one is definitely one of them. Its going to take a few more tries to master and I think the game is super fun and original. I like throwing things at people and shooting a bow and arrow haha! Had a super blast with this one! And I'm not finished with it yet lol!
Thanks for a great review! I have a tenancy to go overboard and get caught up in my ideas and then running out of time. So much more I wanted to do including more balance.
