I'm totally overwhelmed - they come in swarms, like zombies! Honestly, the concept is quite cool, and it's been a while I finally get my hands back on the original doom POV. I myself can hardly find a good way to intertwine math with doom - one requires precision, the other is complete chaos. Well, now I see ;))

The only problem I found myself in is the fact that after you get killed you get back to main menu. It's more unintuitive to do so than to, let's say, give the player a health bar, and when they die they get a losing screen or something like that. That's it for my feedback. Keep up the good work man!

This quickly becomes overwhelming -which i think is fitting for this concept -trying to hunt and peck the right numbers as more swarm is pretty fun!!  This was an awesome use of the theme -nice work!! :D

I really like the idea of math doom, but it's a bit strange. Trying to create certain numbers by shooting certain numbers/symbols is hindered by the fact I need to shoot other numbers or risk dying. Actually having health might help though. The lack of a death or game-over screen is also very jarring since it just takes you to the menu if you die. The chain gun is also kind of loud.

Really nice stuff! As other comments say, I do think the sensitivity is a bit too high, and a crosshair would be helpful. Other than that, the music does get quite repetitive after a while, and I do wish there was an ending (unless there is one and I couldn't get it). Regardless, the concept is really creative and is an awesome interpretation of the theme! May I suggest making it so that each of the levels have a new mechanic, maybe even adding decimals and fractions to spice things up?

Wonderful job, excited to see more!

Thanks for the review and suggestions! I was originally only going to have one level and make it last forever but did end up creating a few different ones but the score to achieve to actually get to them isn't balanced very well...  (and the last level just gives you "survive" as a goal like Halo Reach). And yep the way different elements are introduced is quite poor too, you start with 4 guns and there's no introduction to what they actually do differently...

Math and Doom ;v;

Other than the mouse being a little too sensitive I would have liked a crosshair so I could be more precise especially when there are a  bunch of numbers grouped together, good job tho

Thanks for the feedback! :)

I've added a sensitivity bar in an updated version as this was a common point of feedbacks 😅

For the crosshair: I considered it during development but was trying to match the feeling of the original doom which didn't have a crosshair so I added some other weapons that are better for clearing out the bunches of them... Doing something closer to modern doom probably would have played better though

My Review

Thanks for the review!

I agree definitely should've made the audio loop longer and started it quieter than it is as it is very grating... It's been updated to add a volume slider now at least 😅

The mouse sensitivity is kinda too much.... But the gameplay is good. Love Doom!!!

You should really decrease the sensivity. Game is fun, I liked the idea and wished to play more, but I couldn't because of sensivity.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I've updated to add a 1.1 that adds a sensitivity bar along with some other settings

The concept is fun but i would have prefered no music over this x)

Yeahhh I was missing a few hours sleep when I made it toward the end of the jam, definitely a pretty deafening loop... I've added a V1.1 that adds a volume bar and options so people can turn it down / off 😅

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

Fun game ! Surprisingly tricky to do arithmetics correctly while being chased by a giant division symbol :D
