As other people have said: the movement in this game is really quirky. I had to retry 3 times in order to finally understand how to move (left click). The fact that you only have a small window to see and thus have to zoom around to find all the parts is what sets this game apart, and I can appreciate that. The artstyle is classy and fitting, and I like the general presentation of the game. Adding difficulty was a nice touch, but I feel like hard mode is pretty much impossible. Cool game.
I don't get what I'm supposed to do :'(
You're supposed to eat the Lipids, Membranes, and Proteins to grow into a protocell (which means you win), but I didn’t have time to make the protocell stage 😅 So for now, you just win when you eat everything listed in the top left.
Fun little game and nice sciencey take on the theme!
A really simple addition for me would be on your Itch page having the controls written down! As jam_mack and I_AM both wrote, due to the solid colour of background there was no sense of player movement until a collectable was on-screen, meaning experiementing with keys/mouse movement to find what I should be doing gave no noticeable feedback!
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked the take on the theme 😊
And yeah, totally fair point about the controls and the lack of movement feedback. I spent most of my time trying to get the protocell stage in (which I didn’t finish), so I ran out of time for things like a proper background. I’ll add the controls to the Itch page though—really appreciate the feedback!
Nice idea, had trouble knowing when i was moving, and few restarts were needed someitmes there were no collectables. Good work.
Perfect visual polishing:)
The gameplay itself is great, however, maybe background changes that indicates the player is actually moving, and to track the player's paths will make it better.
Great job!
Thanks so much! Really glad you liked the visuals 😊
Yeah, totally agree—some kind of movement feedback would’ve helped. I was planning to add a little colored arrow pointing to the nearest Lipid, Protein, or Membrane, but I couldn't figure it out in time. I really appreciate the feedback :)
I find that your game is quite fun and creative. :D The only issue I've been having is the game freezing whenever I lose or press "restart". Other than that. great game :).
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game 😊
I couldn’t get the restart to work correctly, so I ended up making it do nothing as otherwise, it would crash, and I'm not sure why. I appreciate you bringing it up, though!
