Godot

Use of the limitation
the game's aesthetic is based around the original game boy, which was just 4 shades of gray(or green depending on model), so I stuck with a 4 color limitation as a whole

Cookies eaten
yes, I had a couple oreos and some coffee xD

Had a fun time! The mechanics worked fine and the level design was pretty good! Some more levels would've been nice but enjoyed it nonetheless.

Looking forward to more!

Thanks so much!

Hard to get a good impression of the game with how short it is, but it seems decent. The jump might need some tweaking because to me it felt like anything below max was a very small jump, instead of feeling like a scale.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll adjust the jump post-jam, as well as fix some of the other issues. I’m planning on working the game after the rating period and turn it into a proper game with proper levels and everything

I really like this! I saw you developing it in the discord and I was really excited to play it, since I love the graphics and the visual style. I would have liked more levels of course, since the game is quite short. Some of the hitboxes were a little annoying too since they just stopped me mid air and wouldn't let me reach certain platforms that looked reachable. Otherwise,  it was well executed given the short time limit of the jam :)

Thanks for the kind words! I liked your game too, we went for a similar look and limitation idea hehe Yours especially was honestly super impressive for a first godot game, and also within the time limit of the jam

I do plan on coming back to this sometime post-jam and fleshing it out a bit more, adding more levels, maybe new level elements and obstacles, different visual areas like maybe a desert, possibly even going more closer to the NES in terms of colour limitations and resolution and that sort of thing, because I didn’t have that much time during the jam to do it, and also this sort of game is honestly super fun to develop

Simple but enjoyable game. This seems like a favorite amongst the rage game genre, and your execution of it is very palatable. Well done.

With more levels, fine tuning of the jumping sensitivity and feedback, and more challenging jumps it can be an even more fun experience.

Thanks!

Lovely simple game you have. Apart from adding more levels and juice, I still enjoyed the whole game. I would recommend you to add variety in the distance between blocks, maybe some enemies or obstacles too. Keep it up bro!

Thanks! I’ll note that recommendation down for when I work on the game post jam

awesome game! loved the visuals and music! Some thoughts, Having like an angry birds style arrow to show where you will go could be interesting, although it might make it too easy, not sure. Also a sound effect when the slime bounces like a boiingg or something would be dope haha. Solid game though, enjoyed myself, already beat all the levels and looking forward to playing more :)

Thanks so much! Honestly, I was debating having some sort of arrow or arch to show how far you’d jump, but 1. I couldn’t think of a way how that could work at this low of a resolution, and 2. it’d make the game far easier, which isn’t really the point xD I’m planning on returning to this post-jam to fix some of the issues, as well as add more levels, individual areas, sound effects, better music, slightly more colours, etc.

Pretty cool, I like the movement mechanic! Wish there were more levels to play though :P

Developer

Thanks! and yeah, I wish I would have made more levels xD I barely had time to do what I did, but I’ll continue working on this post-jam and add way more levels, maybe even some different areas each with their own challenge and whatnot
