I've never understood the appeal of "cleaner" games...until now! The tools needed no extra explanation and just let me figure it out for myself which was really rewarding. The sound effects really made the experience of cleaning hypnotic, the squishy sounds of the mop and the context-sensitive footsteps which were a nice touch. I found myself moaning "nooooo" when i knocked over the watering can or stepped in a blood pool and left footsteps everywhere. Grahpics were great and A+ use of theme, really well done!

This game has a really cool setting and aesthetic! You really delivered on that "horrific beauty" type of thing. (◡ ◡)

I think there were a lot of frustrating mechanics though, like how it was kind of tricky to quickly pickup, fill/use, then drop things. Having to do a couple cycles of that just to get the blood water for my plants felt really finicky. (>_>) Same with the bloody footsteps, and spilling the watering can when I'm trying to clean the broom.

The sponge ball plants were fun to use, especially in those enclosed areas where they'd bounce around a ton and were easy to pick back up again. (^o^)

I'm not really sure what the point of the other plants were though? It didn't seem like I really needed them to clear out a level?

Overall, it was a cool experience! I'd love to play a version with more cool and crazy plants in the future. (^o^)/

Thanks for playing! I’m glad it was fun, I totally see the frustrating points so thanks for voicing them :) really good points

Your game is very nice and i had a lot of fun playing it, at least at the start. Picking up those things and throwing them into the bin (or arround) was fun but the cleaning part was safter a while a bit boring. It's a nice consept and i gave the ,,i wanna play as full game award,, 5 stars but there are things that could be done better:

-A Soundtrack could be added

-you could make a real tutorial level where The controls are explained so you don't have to figure out Yourself what to do

-You could make some kind of dialogue or cutscene at the beginning to show the theme and story more

But overall it's a really nice concept!

Thank you for the feedback and positive words, I agree with your ideas!

I feel really dumb as I couldn’t get past the first part where all I had to do was mop things up. I saw the box that said mop, and it had a fragile sign on it, but I couldn’t get a box to open. Throwing it from the second floor only made the box disappear.

But as a concept, I think it’s pretty cool. The controls are good and I like the in-game UI. I just wish I was a better game player.

We’d love to hear what feedback you have for our game! Please give it a try and let us know. Thanks!

Thanks for playing! To pick up the mop you should’ve been able to press E or right click with your hands, sorry about the issues! And I played your game once but was too tired to really dig in to the levels, so was going to go back and play again before reviewing :) It was good!

Hi there, my girlfriend played this for half an hour and really enjoyed it. It's an interesting idea. I'd of liked some relaxing music or something to go with the zen blood based plant growing. I also had an issue the first time I loaded the game where none of the menus would come up and we couldn't equip anything. That changed on the reload, I just thought I should let you know. Great entry.

There is a radio floating around the code, I was going to find some lo-fi but didn’t feel right using assets for that type of feature in a jam (we didn’t have a musician on the team). Plus I liked the ambient noises 😆 Sorry about the issue, I’m glad your girlfriend had fun and appreciate letting us know!

I absolutely adore the vibe of this game. The main area reminds me of the Ultrakill cybergrind arena and I can totally imagine what went on just before we got on scene :D The controls feel good and walking around mopping up blood is genuinely a very fun experience. The sound design is minimal but fits the game perfectly imo.

I felt pretty confused for a while trying to figure out how to plant and grow seeds, and I wish that had been pointed out in game. It took me a decent bit to figure out that you need to make bloody water and then use that to water the seeds. The plants also didn't seem to have super obvious functionality. I was able to intuit that the compass rose points towards blood, but I was stumped on the others. Currently the plants feel like a secondary gameplay mechanic rather than something that's necessary to use.

This game definitely has potential, and I would love to see this in a more realized state. I've never played powerwash simulator and I've never gotten the appeal of it, but this game makes me start to understand why people like cleaning games. Also, this is one of the few 3D games from the jam that I'm able to run on my potato pc with a decently high fps, so thank you for that! In summary the game was a joyful (although confusing) experience, and I would without a doubt play an expanded version of this game. Great job!

Thanks for all the feedback! Some tutorialization definitely would’ve helped, but I’m glad you were able to figure out a few of them! I thought clean water killing plants was harsh but would maybe teach faster than if it had no reaction 🙈 There’s some help on the game page if you want to learn more :) And I’m glad the low-spec support was appreciated! I partially worked on this on my aging gpu-less laptop during lunch breaks, so I tried to keep it playable ♥

Well aint that just purdy, not sure what I’m doing, but got a nice little assortment haha.

Maybe I missed a how to, but did figure out cleaning the mop by clicking the watering can, but realized it made a nice paint brush for my goreden. Couldn’t figure out how to turn the bucket bloody like in the main menu though, only figured out getting water from the pitcher plant.

The left-click vs right-click different actions were a little confuzing. I was throwing the seed packets at the goreballs for a good while before right clicking an item to equip it.

G to drop item became pretty helpful with the item limit. Did earn a couple thousand doing the clean up, had fun launching the spongy balls around the level.

The red flower DESTROYED my fps though, putting my computer into hyper-drive, so I didn’t really use it much.

Developer(+2)

A couple thousand is better than my first attempt, nicely done! That’s quite a goreden (ty for the term) 😍
I’m not sure why the bucket wasn’t turning bloody when you hit it with the mop, that’s a strange bug. And thanks for the feedback on the controls!

This is a really cool concept! Love the overall aesthetic and nasty squelchy sounds! I felt like I was lacking a feeling of progression, perhaps the plants consuming the pools of blood as they grow, perhaps multiplying and spreading outwards, could be very satisfying! As it felt very difficult to make much of an impact on the cleaning, especially when I'm accidentally leaving bloody footprints everywhere xD!

Typing as I play:
- Love the menu/starting area, this is so cool!
- The bloody footsteps are such a cool touch
- Got stuck for a little bit unsure how to clean my mop, made an absolute mess lol!  Got a little frustrated and attacked a watering can with my mop, turns out that was how to clean it xD!
- I wish I could carry a watering can + mop with me! Oh, I can!
- Tried planting some seeds on the nasty red balls of gore, watered them, but couldn't figure out why I want them or what they're for?
- Tried composting them
- Back to the menu, realized I can interact with the plants here!

Developer(+2)

Definitely agree with those suggestions, some of them were stretch goals 😆 Antleroot is mostly just to soak up the blood so you can toss the chunks to the composter, when they’re grey they don’t splat blood. Thanks for playing!

10/10 would trap myself in the composting bin again. Loved the squishy gross sounds

A fascinating concept that left me scratching my head. It took me a solid twenty minutes to figure out what on earth I was supposed to do. I tried all of the seeds and managed to grow each one, but only the tri-ivy seemed to have a use with its bouncy sponges. I have no clue how the other ones are supposed to work.

The mops are limited and only good for a few uses. The biggest frustration I had was tracking blood everywhere. No matter how hard I tried and no matter how little blood I stepped in, I seemed to track more everywhere, which is not a fun mechanic.

I think I beat the tutorial level (even cleaned the drips off of the bridge), but without any indication that I had won, I wasn't sure.

There were some glimmers of fun, like the bouncy sponges, but "chore" games like these are meant to be zen and relaxing, and this one was tedious and frustrating for me.

Also, I say this genuinely---good job on getting a 3D game up and running! Some other submissions unfortunately could not be run, but this one ran pretty smooth for me.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Well done with the cleaning 👏👏👏 I appreciate the patience! A tutorial (or even signs) would’ve helped, dropping players in the sandbox with no notes was a bit harsh

One requirement I had while working was that it had to run on my not-very-good laptop, so I’m glad it ran well! It fit the art style well

I love the concept. Visuals of blood soaked plants are very eye catching. I kind of wish what I needed to do was explained a bit better (with the buckets and mops and seeds growing on chunks).  Also special thanks for including a Linux version

Developer

Fair points, I’ll add some description to the game page. Thanks for playing! I’m glad the Linux version was appreciated 🐧
