The visuals are just outstanding and the music works so well, I really lost myself in this! And the controls were intuitive and fun, it's great design to make the player choose between swapping to another fish and grabbing just one more ring. Really great work!
Everything about this game comes together really well, I felt super nostalgic the whole time I was playing it. WASD controls feel a bit overtuned but mouse and space work just fine. The soundtrack is fantastic and the art is perfect. I love the concept. If it ever gets expanded I'd love to play it.
very nice vibes
This game is visually and audibly stunning! And though I wish I could have remapped the keys, it was still enjoyable to play. Great job!
Please play our game and let us know what you think! Thanks!
Love that Frutiger Aero, 2000s tech aesthetic. This whole game looks unreal, like something I daydreamed but could never explain or recreate.
Many underwater games/levels tend to fall short in the fun department, but this was a blast! You can boost through rings, AND on demand via a boost meter? Exhilarating.
The music/sound effects are also top notch, best I've heard in the jam so far.
Thankyou! glad the aesthetics we were going for come across clearly! Glad you had fun : )
Pretty soothing, reminds me of Everything + Abzu + Spyro the Dragon, in y2kcore with a splash of dreamcore visuals. It gives me the feeling of being an ARG/unfiction though, like that there might be something else happening in the game I don’t know about. Cause I’m getting a similar feeling to playing the MyHouse.wad doom2 level, I mean that as a good thing, even if it doesn’t sound it, I played that map like 8 times haha. Like, that there would be some dev log I could read about something weird going while the team made the game, something underlying.
The vibe of music + visuals fit well, nicely done!
Thankyou for playing and kind words! the unfiction wasn't something intended but that's cool to hear! The Y2K/frutiger aero was something I had in mind from the start when designing the visuals though so glad that comes across :)
Also that's a pretty cool combo of games for it to remind you of, appreciate that!
The visuals are gorgeous, and the music is great! The keyboard controls are pretty bad, but when I switched to the gamepad, I immediately got into the flow (pun intended). Scored something like 48000 and died, so didn't get to the end (maybe tomorrow) :D
Ah, the keyboard controls...
I initially had them similar to Minecraft's swimming, but then wanted to make the camera a bit more dramatic (edit: and free to look around). The terrors of camera design that followed were not for the faint of heart. (X . X)
Did you know there are multiple books about how to make videogame camera systems? I didn't until two weeks ago! (@ o @)
I ended up putting the mouse-controlled turning back in pretty last-minute, to hopefully get the nice controls and dramatic camera. Effectiveness still in-question.
Glad you enjoyed the game with controller! Thanks for playing! (^o^)/
Omg, love the art style! The look is a lot fun. And the music fits great!
I wanted to play more, but the movement is quite nauseating for me, I have an easy time getting motion sickness.
It moves a bit like a first person camera, but I would have loved to play with third person camera movement: some free movement in the center, smooth catch up as you make sharp turns etc.
It was difficult to get passed this feeling and on to having fun, but the game do look like it is a lot of fun!
Thanks for checking the game out! o/
Sorry to hear about the motion sickness. I wish I could've gotten the camera to follow the player a bit more loosely, but whenever I tried to, I got motion sick. D:
I guess it's hard to find the perfect camera. >_<
This was a lot of fun, once I got the rhythm down the first mode wasn’t too hard. Zen mode was exactly that, I would’ve gotten all the stars if I’d had more time!
Thanks for playing!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! (^o^)
