  • Very nice art and cool presentation. I feel there's a cool game hidden undereath that I'm missing out but... I just couldnt manage to play. Even after restarting the game to REDO the whole tutorial, I could not figure out how to leave the mine without dying and the controls are very awkward. Having to move with the arrows instead of WASD and having the controls in a weird line while having the items on numbers (not that I had any past the tutorial tbh) maybe the game was just too hard ? The first floor was easy then the second floor generally had like 5-6 enemies shooting at me and with the awkward control, I had to think "what what the dodge input again ?" every time I wanted to dodge. I liked the mechanic of looking for stuff in the ground, but the difficulty wramp up didnt allow me to enjoy that at all. I felt overwelmed right away, couldnt extract once, would have to sit in that painfully long death screen basically telling me I suck and have 0$ the whole game so unable to upgrade anything to try to get better. It's a shame cause I'm looking at the gifs and screenshot and I'm like "I wish I could play that game, it looks cool" but I can't, it's brutally hard right off the bat. Cool art, nice mechanic, nice music and audio. Sadly ruined by the brutally steep difficulty curve.

Did you work alone, or as part of a group? (If in a group, list their names)
I created the game mostly alone, but Dooziegoose did create sketches and concepts for many ideas. She is credited in the game and on the itch page.

Disclose if you used any public domain assets or not.
Yes. My project contains public domain music/sound. Any used services/sounds are listed in the end credits of the game, and are linked on the game page for full transparency. Some audio assets were sourced from public audio libraries compiled through my development platform (Penguinmod).

Incredibly high-quality game you made here, really impressed and I had a lot of fun playing!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you had fun, your words mean a lot!

Woah this pretty good. Good work!

Developer

Thanky you so much for playing!

By the way, you're the first one to get a full 5/5 in every category from me! Then how is it possible that this is not my favourite..? I guess I like flawed games better haha

Very enjoyable experience, thanks for making such a cool game :D

Developer(+1)

Wow thank you so much! Makes me feel spoiled to get those high scores. Sometimes flawed things really stick out in your mind more!

Your welcome for the game, but thank you more for playing!!

Submitted(+1)

Your game is really solid in all aspects, you nailed it with this one. I felt kind of brain dead dying over and over thinking I could hit the enemies lol.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!! I realized I never actually put that there isn't any combat in the tutorial like I thought, so I don't blame you lol

Submitted(+1)

This is a complete package! I am boggled by the amount of mechanics in the game, you clearly know you're doing. The execution of the whole thing is just so good, with the animations, the hub world (dig the colour customisation idea), the mechanics as mentioned, and the sound design. Didn't get how to attack the enemies in my first few tries, but that's just me being a noob :P

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Perfectionism is struggle of mine when it comes to getting projects out, so your comments are deeply appreciated :D.

So glad you found the color customization lol, one of the few Easter eggs I was able to squeeze in there (great use of jam time, I know lol)

Man I suck at this game 😂Really cool though, feels very polished and definitely has potential to be a fully fledged game. I think the one thing I'd change is maybe not having the dig and dodge button right next to each other because I kept accidentally digging instead of dodging and vice versa, but that might be a skill issue on my part

I will most likely come back to this to try again, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, its really appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm addressing controls for the post-jam update. Currently I have the space bar as a new control option for dodging, so it would be awesome to have you back and hopefully have it feel smoother for ya :)

I really like the games art. I think the game feels quite overwhelming at first with the long tutorial, many different mechanics, and the hub world with multiple things to do. I think I would have removed the three day limit for paying the bank because it adds a lot of pressure while I'm still just figuring out everything I have to do in the game. All that said I really like the core game play. Edit: I also don't really understand how to extract. maybe I didn't get far enough

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much for giving it a play!

I definitely understand, the tutorial was one of the last things I did and I rushed it out pretty quickly lol.

I appreciate the feedback on the quota, I didn't consider how it would affect a newer player like that. I'll look into adjusting that for the post-jam update, maybe a few extra days only on the first quota would help with that?

For extracting, every 3 rooms you'll have a break room with some buyable items, a hole to delve deeper, and a hole where the extract is available. Hopefully that helps you!

Submitted(+1)

Ah then I definitely have to try one more time to extract some loot. If I could make a suggestion regarding the quota, I think I'd introduce the mechanic and start the count down once the player manages to extract for the first (or maybe even second) time

Developer

Wow I like that idea a lot more! I'll test it out in my current build :D thank you!

I like the game, but it does not like me LoL! Such a complete game jam entry really really well done. At first I didn’t see how it related to the theme but then I clicked it. The hunting for the exit is such a cool idea and the hitting the ground and looking for the shockwave changes is an awesome idea.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for checking it out! I tried to interpret hunting in a few ways in the game (the demon hunting you, the banks hunting for quota, treasure hunting for ores and the century gem) but the shockwave mechanic was my original concept/hook for this game. I appreciate the kind word and its really cool you took notice :D

“the demon hunting you, the banks hunting for quota, treasure hunting for ores and the century gem”

That’s actually so next level!!

No idea how you got this done in 9 days but wow this game is insane, well done! I do kinda suck tho and uhh i never got past the first quota oops. I will definitely come back to this later and get beter though, great game!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the nice words :). I don't know how either, I did have to pull an all-nighter on the final day to get it done, so there were sacrifices along the way I wouldn't recommend lol

I'll be pushing some updates post-jam so it'll be cool to have you back!

Submitted(+1)

This is great, really well-polished and I can definitely see the complete package here! I love the art and the music. I love the chaos of trying to mine in a bullet hell. Really cool mix of genres. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing the game! I really appreciate your kind words :D

the controls are hard but i really liked the game the art is fire

Developer

Thank you so much! Controls will be fixed post jam!

Submitted(+1)

The art is awesome, I enjoyed it a lot! I too find the controls a little hard but overall great work :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks a bunch! Controls have been updated in a new build that'll be up after the jam :)

Submitted(+1)

The controls are a lil weird but this is impressive for the limited time! I could see this being a full thing people would love.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I have updated controls on a new build that will be available right after the jam.

Everyday that goes by I keep getting more ideas for new content and stuff I could work on, so your comment is really reassuring :)

Thats really fun! The keys are very hard to work with on a QWERTZ Keyboard though. I like the Lethal Company - Vibe a lot. Because of the keys I only got to the third cave :(

Edit: Forgot to mention that the tutorial was amazing and very helpful!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! I actually never thought of the lethal company comparison when making it, but I totally get it now that you pointed it out lol.

I'll definitely be addressing WASD controls post jam! Thanks for the feedback.

This game is really fun and good! The art is also nice, and I love smacking the shovel at the ground.

I haven't gotten too far in the game yet since I'm great at dying while trying to find the ladder, and it's in a corner with stationary enemies, but it's a fun experience!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! The feedback is really appreciated!

The ladder is designed to avoid spawning next to enemies, but admittedly its buggy sometimes lol. Something I'll definitely address post jam.

Submitted(+1)

The game really good! loved the art and the little frogs!

The game is really hard for me apparently lol, can't dodge at all or just bad with the arrow key. So, i did not progress far into the game.

I think it would be wonderful if i can hunt the enemies too from the start of the game, lol the first thing i see an enemy is hit it with the shovel :(

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! There is a bit of a learning curve to it, and I plan to add WASD after the jam ends.

Thanks for the feedback! I did play with the idea of giving players a way to attack enemies, but didn't add it in the end, so it might be something I can revisit .

There are throwable bomb items in the game that will kill enemies if you hit them with the blast, so those are a good thing to stockpile if some enemies are giving you a hard time.

Submitted(+1)

this game is super good! I had a blast playing it. Even though i couldn't make it very far, I'll definitely be going back to this project! Superb job to you!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words, glad you had fun and thanks for playing!!
