Explain your hypothetical game concept & how you interpreted the theme!
You wander through the wasteland alone. It is a quiet place – no others like you are to be found – with only the sounds of the wind, trees, and occasional bird to accompany you. Whatever remnants of civilization there are have been reclaimed by nature, now sitting overgrown and slumbering. Then, suddenly, you find it – a massive, abandoned complex deep within the forest, a behemoth of rusted metal, spreading out in all directions, a temple to things long past, towering before you in its magnificence. This is… the Persepolis.
I – THE SUBMERGED CHAPEL
Entering the complex, you find yourself in a wide-open chamber, a network of catwalks and rafters sprawling throughout the structure. Looking down, you can see the chamber opens up to a series of massive pits, each partially flooded with a murky green water. What could these holes have held? Prisoners? Some great beast? As you explore the area, the sounds of some faraway machine echo off the rusted walls of this place. Through the opening of a crumbling wall, you can see even more of the complex – an array of buildings and towers that stretches on and on. Just how big is this place? With your eyes set on one of these distant spires, you continue your pilgrimage.
II – THE HEAVENLY SPIRES
As you ascend the towering structure, you can look out and truly see the scale of this complex. Its structures stretch past the horizon in every direction; towers like the one you now climb dot the landscape. And yet, despite its awe-inspiring the scale, the place sits empty. From up here, its silence seems almost oppressive. Navigating the rafters, far above the ground below, you have to wonder what purpose these monolithic pillars served. A way for those ancient men to reach the heavens, perhaps? Whatever their original meaning, they stand now as only silent monuments to a time and place far beyond your understanding.
III – THE INFERNAL MACHINE
You are deep within the bowels of the complex now, having long lost the light of the outside world. But unlike the immense loneliness you have so far encountered, there seems to be something alive within these subterranean tunnels. The buzzing of the walls grows increasingly incessant. You start to feel more and more that this is no place for a creature like yourself, but the whispers of the machine pull you forward like a moth to the flame. And then, you find it – the core of this place, the heart of the machine, beckoning you to witness its unworldly magnificence. The buzzing sounds like screams now. But as the light consumes you, you understand that this was your role, this was the place you were meant to be all along. Another lost pilgrim, another offering to this ancient and unknowable place, the eternal Persepolis.

What genre is your soundtrack?
minimal ambient

How did you incorporate quartal harmony into your hypothetical soundtrack?
The first movement primarily features harmonic movements of perfect fourths and minor sevenths (i.e. two perfect fourths). The second movement features stacked fourth chords. The third movement is based on an augmented fourth drone.

I was listening to this while working on a project. felt my focus and productivity increase. Love minimal ambient work like this.  I also think this works for film as well.

Well done!

I think this song has just as successful sound design as it does melodic ideas. It's cool how the first song feels like its still dripping haha

Nice ambient soundtrack! I could easily imagine this playing in a horror game.

Reminded me of rainworld and disaster piece (of pez and hyper light drifter fame), with down-in-the-mix/subtle repeating synths, pulsing with life and folley and minimal electronic ambient drones. The atmosphere created is empty, lonely, and both scared and sorrowed me. Nothing stuck out in the mix, and none of it felt too crowded or overwhelming where it shouldn't have been.
I only dock it on inclusion of the theme "Future Past" since it really only seems like the "Past" part of that, at least in my lowly opinion.
