I had to play it a few times to get the hang of it, but I thought the simple interaction between the heroes and map worked well. Trying to keep high value items so I don’t get too close to 0 each turn was an interesting balancing act I didn’t quite get the hang of, but it feels promising. The UI, sounds, and graphics were great and I liked the variety of art and dialogue!

Some more indicators or animations to make it clear what’s happening would’ve helped, but for 15 days this is a crazy entry! Lots of talent here, nice work!

i like the concept and changing battlefield, but i had no indication of what the value taken for buying back whatever would be and lost 3 times because of that. i also wasn't sure if i should be saving specific items for specific heros/places or just sell whatever and click next until i have more. i think it was just luck that i didn't lose immediately on the third play. even just telling me what they wanted to buy it back and giving me a turn or two to wait to do so would've really helped this.

This concept of being a shopkeeper selling items to the main characters was actually proposed by one of my game jam teammates, so it is super cool to see someone actually made it.

From what I understand, the numbers on the cities represent the power level the hero needs to be to survive. If their attack exceeds the number of the city they plan on attacking, there is a good chance they will survive. And if they do, they will help restock your shop later with their spoils of war.

Although I had one run that was really good, it honestly seems like whether you survive the beginning of the game is pure luck. Most of my runs inexplicably end early because the heroes end up winning the war quickly, despite the fact that when I checked the map last turn, half the cities were taken by enemies! Is that a glitch? It's frustrating to get a negative score over and over again while trying different strategies.

Also my best run ended RIGHT before winning because of a scripting error. Sad, cause I made fat stacks of cash.

Overall, obsessed with figuring out this game and there's a lot of potential here. Would love to see the mechanics better explained and more fleshed out.

Ending with a negative score means you got into debt, which is one of the losing conditions. This happens when a hero comes and sells you their loot, which costs too much so you go into debt. The error was specific to the build, but it only occurred when you lost. But yeah the debt loss could have been explained better and we plan to change it so that you dont lose immediately. Also, the fact that whether you survive is up to chance is true to some degree, especially when you dont know whats going on, so we will try to address that too. Additionally , whether the hero dies or not is determined by his survivability. Thanks  for trying the game out and for your feedback!

Great work! I thought a few more SFX for all the clicking/menu actions would have been awesome. The right combo of satisfying UI sounds would make this game addictive as hell.

After a while I had no more weapons to sell... wasn't sure what to do after that. Nicely fleshed out gameplay concept though!

Hi, I really like the idea for this game, playing as a merchant selling goods to hero's. All the visuals and sounds you had for the game worked really well with your idea. It wasn't totally clear when I was getting new equipment in, or how much equipment was enough for the hero. Nice entry, congrats on finishing.

I agree with most everyone here, great concept was a little confused at first, but pulling out the map to see how things were going made it fun. Definitely could use more UI and sound effects, I wouldn't really know what happened or why I suddenly had so much more in inventory. You being forced to buy goods from adventurers a la how shopkeeps are in normal games tickles me. Thanks for your review on ours, I definitely think there's a good baseline here for a very fun game!

Sound effects is a definite must! We’ve started talkin on the team about ways to fix the ui and map to make more sense. Like seeing the heroes sell you the items easier, more numbers to show changes in things as it’s happening.

We’ll think it over some more, thanks for the review and trying out the game!

I got a bit lost on what I was supposed to be doing, but the visuals were quite nice and the UI looked great. i would add some SFX to the different things you do. like when you select a weapon and maybe the characters footsteps as they enter. but all around a fun little experience. Great job to the whole team.

Developer

Thanks kindly! We’ve been discussing ways to help with the confusion to add to the game. Sound effects is on the list to add, it’ll definitely help with the immersion.

I liked the music and art and the concept is very nice! However, I was confused as to what the numbers on the map by the cities meant. (Maybe I just missed it.) And after I sold everything, I didn’t see a way to acquire more.

Please check out our game and let us know what you did and didn’t like! Feedback is gold to us! Thanks!

Ya know how it goes, plans to add stuff to help convey ideas better, not enough time… Any heroes that survive going to battle will bring back loot they snagged. So, based on how you equip them, they’ll come back and force you to buy their items as any npc shop keep is forced to do in games, but that gives you more inventory to sell. So you need to plan how you power up your shoppers, and use the map a good bit. We do need to put more emphasis on using the map to help, that’s for sure.

Thanks kindly on the music, art, and concept! It was fun to come up with and make as a team!

Just to say, I probably played spacial delivery more than the other submissions, it’s fun. I’ll give a comment on your page!

That's a great idea. I love the visuals and I love the concept of a management sim equipping the main characters. I had a lot of fun with it. One thing I'd say could be improved is consequences of selling an item or not is hard to understand as a player

Developer

Thanks kindly! It was pretty fun drawing up everything and working on the visuals

Hmmm that’s in interesting point, we’ll talk about it, see what could be done to help convey the impact better. Could give some room for more visual eye candy hehe Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, great job!

I played the game and these were my thoughts:
- Nice animation in the intro, it was fun to have the guy move in and you just get straight to the game.
- The art looks very cohesive and appealing, fits the gameplay very well. Good job!
- The selling mechanic became a bit tedious, my poor programmer mouse arm was not too pleased with the repetitive motion :(
- I don't feel I understand when progress was happening, and I didn't get to lose, and at some point I started just selling everything to one person and mashing the end turn button.

There is something here, looking forward to trying it again if you continue working on it :)

Hi, I was one of the collaborators on the project and thank you for the feedback. The selling mechanic is definitely a bit tedious and we are gonna fix that to be a simple right click. The point of the game is to get as much money as possible, which in turn means you are trying to survive for as long as possible by balancing the war going on, which you can check by looking at the map. You cant allow the enemies to take the main city, therefore you must equip the heroes to successfully attack the outposts if the enemies get too close, while not allowing them to take all of them, since that would mean that you also lose. Also you cant get in debt, which can happen if the hero sells you too much stuff - which you always have to accept ( like an NPC would). If you have any other gripes or questions, please ask. Once again thanks for trying out the game!
