Artist notes
This is a submission for "Broken Telephone Jam #7" wherein participants are invited to work on an artwork given a song prompt. The song prompt was "Wisdom of the Forest" by Kakashi. The song is very gentle and calm, and the chimes, mallets, and pan flute gave it an exotic vibe. I interpreted the song as being a little bit sexy and mysterious, hence the woman in silhouette. For colors, I used the "Fantasy 24" palette from the lospec website as a base since it has warm, saturated earthy tones. I wanted to practice shading a bit, so there are two light sources: the sun overhead (outside the frame) and the torch in the forest (which only really impacts the tree next to it and the torch itself). I generally wanted the scene to be brightest in the distance, with the scene becoming darker closer to the viewer and around the edges (in fact, the tunnel section was thrown in so I could ensure a dark edge without resorting to bush spam).
