Really incredible game! The soundtrack and visuals are phenomenal, and it has some of the best difficulty scaling I've seen so far (probably a weird thing to comment on, but getting difficulty right in game jams is exceptionally difficult, and you nailed it here).
I also like the turn based combat a lot! It seemed a bit weird at first but it fixes a fundamental issue that a lot of bullet hells have, where attacking doesn't mean anything but holding the shoot button until the boss dies. Here it actually matters, which is awesome.
The only things I'll comment on is that a boss health bar would be nice (not all the time, maybe just something that appears during the player's attack animation), since at times it felt like I had no idea how much progress I was making. And that while the cat and boss look great in isolation, there were enough stylistic differences between them that it slightly hurt the overall visual cohesion of the game (not much though, just enough that it's worth mentioning). Finally, I'm not really sure how this fits the theme, but that's hardly an issue with the game itself.
Also I played the web version and the text worked fine for me. Maybe it's a browser specific issue?
Yeah the text thing still needs to be figured out, I'll see it once I get hyped for this game again.
but besides that, I'm really glad for your feedback! The bar thing was a planned feature but I was afraid I couldn't get it done in time (due to timezones) so I decided to just release it as it was.
but yeah! thank you for playing it, its highly appreciated <3
do look forward to updates :)
This game is amazing. One of my favorite entries, and I’ve played 60+ already! You truly deserve more ratings.
The pixel art, the music, the gameplay, everything is great and fits perfectly together. The game feels very polished and I had a great time playing it.
Amazing job!
Thank you so much!! ♥ I am really happy to hear you say that!
The visual and sounds are very nice the turn based attack/heal system is also nice. The button mashing for attcking is also a good concept.
The major problem is that it is very easy to get risky points and nothing much to use them on. On my playthrough i went up to 10,000 RP. The smaller problem is that it is impossible to not get hit by the "exclamation mark beam" in the fourth stage of the boss because as you dodge them another one appears before the previous fades away.
But overall it's an easy game that also makes you pray to the RNG goddess when low on health. Very cool
thank you so much for playing! ♥
I really like the idea of a turn based bullet hell, that is a good juxtaposition of genres. I did however feel the cat hit box was a little large for some of the patterns and the movement was not to my taste. Graphically tho superb, great effort all round.
Amazing blend of genre, and absolutely oozing with style :3
thank you!
Cute pixel art! Sound and Music are perfect! Very nice!
Thankyou for playing! ♥
I WON!
The presentation is top notch in this one, both the visuals and music, I love the background and the animation of the cats and bosses. On one hand I don't know what the exact hitbox of the cat is yet in practice it is intuitive and I always got hit when I thought I would and the game isn't hard so it's ok. I had a lot of fun playing the game, it controls well, it's punchy and while I'd say I was mostly indifferent to the turn-based part the patterns which are the meat of the games are very fun ones to dodge.
Great game!
congratulations on winning! thank you for playing!
The art style is so cool and I liked the idea of putting in turn based combat this way, it kind of reminds me of Knuckle Sandwich! I would've liked if there was different button combinations to mash while attacking to give it a bit of challenge. the healing mechanic is also really solid
thank you so much for playing! ♥ I really enjoyed drawing the healing mechanic
Very well polished entry !
I really had a blast trying this one out, gameplay wise the mixing of turn based combat with the bullet hell phases is a really cool concept, but to me what takes the cake is the grazing mechanic that rewards you with points to healp you fully heal, this can make the difficulty much more managable in some places and is quite a welcomed feature :D
Artstyle is incredible, the spritework and animations are top notch, plus as a bonus i like the team member portraits in the credits segment XD
Soundtrack is a total banger, i especially liked the very techno track on the phase where the boss gets a sort of mechsuit.
My only issue is that the character’s hitbox isn’t quite clear which makes it a bit hard to dodge some patterns and rely on the dash way more often.
Other than that it’s a total blast, y’all did great ^^
thank you for playing and feedback!
We're very glad! Thank you so much for the feedback, it's what help us improve.
Genuinely appreciated 💛
Very cute art style, along with really fun gameplay :)
thank you for playing!
I liked the idea of dodging combined with turn-based combat — great job! Although, I would make the player character a bit smaller.
Thanks for the feedback!
