This was really neat! Loved the tutorial, thought it was really well done. I was totally immersed, and really bummed when my playthrough ended seemingly due to a bug of some sorts?
Made it up to the first time we get 4 enemies, and the mage kept stun-locking my entire party. Once my thralls all died, a message briefly popped up and then went away, and it kept saying I should right click to raise dead thralls, but nothing happened after that.
Yeh that is definitely a bug that has happened to a few people, I'm sorry it ruined your run π₯²
We will be fixing it after the jam if you are interested in playing again π
The bitcrushed voice acting was very funny!
Very clever mechanics. I love a good dice game!
I ended my game in an encounter where the entire party would get stunned every turn, and I could never do anything. When they were all killed, I couldn't progress. The game just got stuck on the fight.
I'm sorry to hear that you got stuckπ It does seem to have happened to a few people, but we will be fixing it at the end of the jam ^.^
Thanks for playing
Amazing submission all around! Kudos to your team for coming together and making a really cohesive experience! Gameplay was fun and pretty easy to pick up. I think a bit more UI assistance could help, for example I didn't realize the destroyed town buildings gave me bonuses til the end. One thing that could help with that is like a combat log so I can see everything that happened during the turn.
The audio, music and VO are all incredible, great job there. I really enjoyed the music.
One of my favorites in the jam so far!
Very well done. Not sure if it was a bug, but it seemed like I had infinite uses of the lightsaber slash, which made certain parts of the game very easy. The music also stopped looping for me towards the end. Overall definitely in the top 10 games submitted for me
Nah its not a bug, it might have just been way overpowered haha.
The bug was that the item shows 0 uses while it is supposed to be infinite. The music looping is a bug unfortunately π
We have already fixed both bugs, we are just waiting until we can upload it after the jam π
Thanks for playing π
Great work on having visual responses to in game events like buffs, damage, etc. Makes it really easy to get a feel for how combat is going without bogging the game down or slowing it down. I definitely see the dicey dungeon inspo, but a lot of unique touches to make it your own. Pixel art is killer too, love the character designs especially
Thank you, I tried my best to communicate what is going on visually. It was pretty hard to not make the game a wall of text coming at you due to the type of game it is haha (although it still has a lot of text). If I had more time I might have added a few more animations and visual indicators (like one for being healed, or for being buffed).
The characters were done entirely by vibrant-gusano π
Thanks for playing our game ^.^
Very interesting and enjoyable take on Dicey Dungeons! Many congrats to the whole team! :D
Thank you for playing ^.^
We were also having trouble getting to the end due to the stunning, but itβs a very polished game! Nice job!
Yeh haha it sounds like its a common problem with the stunning, luckily in the next build you get stun immunity for 2 turns after you are stunned so that should make things a bit less frustrating π
Thank you for taking the time to play ^.^
I enjoyed it a lot! I couldn't get to the end sadly but it's very well done, congrats!
Thank you for playing π
For the amount of time we had this is really impressive and felt like a complete game for the most part, more content and balancing is all I felt like this needed. Really enjoyed the dice mechanic for combat and the voice acting and sound effects were nice as well. Great job! Also whoever did your art was working, that is so much to have to do in such a short period of time.
Thank you for playing π
Yeh there was a lot of artwork to do, luckily we had 2 really good artists on the job π
vibrant-gusano did the character work and calxmarx did the backgrounds/ ui/ map stuff.
Very nice game, lots of fun to play. I ended up getting stuck on this screen after my party got wiped and I couldn't seem to continue. I did way too well for the first 3 fights and then the enemies got like 30+ health and my guys couldn't kill any of them them :(
Thank you for playing, I am glad you had fun π
I'm sorry to hear that a bug ruined your run, was there anything unusual that happened or can you think of any reason you can think of as to why this might have happened?
Ill make sure to track down this bug and fix it don't you worry π
I'm not sure. I felt like I was just playing and I lost without killing an enemy so it seemed like it got stuck on the "raise your slain enemies" text and since I didn't have anyone to raise I just got softlocked.
Hmm ill look into it, thanks for the help π
I think this is a nice game. I like the combat system and the voice over is a nice touch. The artist spent a lot of effort on the arts and it shows. However I think there could be a few improvement. I think limiting the color palette more would make it looks way better and lowering details in the background could allow the subjects to stand out more. I think this game would also benefit a lot from exploring the in engine lighting system. Other than that, the sounds effects is really satisfying and I think the concept is really fun. Great Game, you guys did a nice job!
Hi there! Thanks so much for your feedback :D we're glad you enjoyed it!
The bubbly sound the dice make is so juicy! Loved the core game mechanic.
Thank you, if there is one thing I like to have in my games, it is to have it overflowing with juice π
Definitely my kind of game. I wanted to keep playing, but got stun locked by a mage two fights in a row. Like others have said, very impressive game for the amount of time we had. I went with much less ambitious RPG mechanics, and struggled quite a bit with connecting everything together.
I also like your interpretation of the theme as being on the receiving end of expeditions. It's a nice subversion. Good job to everyone on the team.
I think that I will make it so that when you get stunned, you cant be stunned for another round or two to balance it out a bit. A lot of people have said that stuns are crazy op haha.
Thanks for playing and leaving a nice comment, I will give your game a play soon and let you know what I think π
This is such a fleshed out game. Very good concept and quite ambitious. There were a few bugs I ran into trying to. I would get locked out of abilities before they were tapped or infinitely punch even when I ran out of charges.
Many thanks for your kind words and feedback! I'll pass this on to the rest to the team. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
This game was a ton of fun, and really felt like a fully realized concept. It felt really well crafted; I'm always a sucker for games with a unit and inventory management system, so I liked the thrall mechanic. I also liked the bit where if you lost, you could still defend with the vampire.
This was really great, good work!
It's great to hear that you had fun! The 'final defence' as Verlene is personally one of my favourite parts of the game, so I'm super glad you liked it too. Thanks for playing!
This has been a really fun playthrough. Taking the expedition concept and reversing it is a fun idea, and being able to revive enemies as your own thralls is a nice touch. Some nice varied equipment to be getting too. Took me a little while to notice the flames above my characters was representing incoming damage, but when i did, it really made each turn more satisfying by knowing which enemies are doing what on any particular turn and being able to plan around it.
Thanks so much for playing and leaving such helpful feedback! If we continue to update the game after this jam, adding more to the tutorial is definitely on my writing list :D
Tutorials are always a little tricky I find, especially in game jams, but it's honestly a good tutorial where it is, plenty of the game is explained, i really liked the voiceover of the vampire lady during the first fight too. Anyway this was a cool game, im fully expecting it to be rated highly in the final results :)
This was my favorite game so far, reminded me of dicey dungeons and in a good way :)
Dicey Dungeons was definitely a heavy influence for us - it's great that was able to shine through. Thanks very much for playing and leaving a review :D
This is absolutely exceptional in every capacity! I can easily see this game being a viable title to release as a full paid game after some polishing up and maybe some additional features. The art style and the actual voice acting make this stand out among many of the other titles here.
Wow, what high praise! Our artists and voice talent are very skilled and we're lucky to have them! Thanks so much for playing and leaving such a wonderful review.
Wow, I can't believe you built all that in nine days!! I love the setup of taking control of dead enemies, and of controlling one big bad boss when the heroes get past your front line. There was a ton of juice and I came away understanding basically all the mechanics.
My only complaint is that the gameplay stalled out a little in the last fight. It was down to one thrall vs. the queen. Each turn, I could do a tiny bit of damage, and then put her to sleep. So I did that about a dozen times to beat the game :P
Haha thanks, I'm glad that the game is actually beatable.
I wasn't sure as I never actually got the chance to do a full playthrough, so you might be the first person ever to finish the game haha
It was a crazy amount of work in a short period of time and I wish we had just a little bit more to iron out some bugs.
Thank you so much for playing and leaving a comment π
