Wow incredible job with the voice acting and sound effects. Very awesome submission.

A lot of great stuff here, especially the voice acting and world building.

The actual gameplay was pretty simple, I didn’t really feel like I had to make any interesting choices, just run around and either avoid/kill the enemies or collect samples. It might have been nice if there were clearly consequences to those action (e.g. collecting a sample taking longer and therefore exposing you to attack).

The ending added a nice layer of interesting to story, though.

Nice job!

This is really cool! The models are very well done, the whole style is very cohesive. Voice acting was fantastic and really helped make the game come to life. It feels like there is a lot of worldbuilding here even in a short game. Well done!

Cool game! The models were beautiful - I especially loved the enemies. They reminded me of the monsters from The Descent :)

The voice acting was peak! Impressive that you guys made the acapella, the little birds were cute

I enjoyed this top-down shooter! A cool setting in nature and clear objects, it was very entertaining!

  • (+) The cutscenes and dialogues were awesome, and very polished!
  • (+) Easy controls, and clear and understandable gameplay. I got it immediately.
  • (-) I think the enemies were maybe not fulfilling their potential in the current iteration. They didn’t provide a lot of tension, as I just had to stand still and wait until they almost touched me, then took a step back and shot. Maybe if they started charging at you from further away and you could shoot them as soon as they charged, or if they were more camouflaged when not shootable? I think it could help with tension.

Really good job for a short game jam!

I liked it! You did great work with the a capella sounds, especially the birds!

Unfortunately, I had to close out of the game after completing the objectives, because I just couldn't find the ship I was supposed to get back to.

Oh and when the enemies hit you, you do get respawned but with some(?) of the progress still intact, so you can place much more than just six scanners.

Damn! That is a bug haha I should have disabled the death for the player as there is no UI showing your life.

The ship shows up around midway vertically, in the side opposed to where you are when you get the message telling to go back to ship. It has an icon in the minimap when you get close

If you want to try again, use Ctrl+F1 cheatcode for super-speed so you can speedrun it and see the final cutscene (which is relevant)

(I get the samples and place the scanners in less than one minute doing that =p)

Thanks for the tip!

Oh ya, I did not expect that twist hah! It's the first game I played in this series of yours (if I understood correctly, there are more?)

Developer(+1)

Yep! This is the 5th game with the same group of characters =]

In case you want to play them you can check on my profile, they should be played in this order for best experience:

  • Warthunder Type H
  • Access H7
  • Mechtobacillus
  • Dustblast - incomplete :(
  • The Research Samples (this one)

With the exception of Access H7, they are in reverse chronological order, so each game is a flashback further back in the past (confusing I know)

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll check them out!
