Neat take on the theme, I loved the names of the explorers lol. “Amelia Dareheart”, “Bear Thrills”, “Sacagowander” ahahah.

For the first 5 times I got Buzz Aldingo going to the Moon, and I kept picking poorly, ranging from 0/5 to 2/5 but he still kept coming back. Eventually I started getting other explorers too but I could never get above 3/5.

My only real complaint with the game is I felt there was no real goal. There’s no end (from what I can tell, I started spam clicking choices willy-nilly to see if I had to reach a certain number of sales or something, but they just kept coming). Even something like a running score, or a summary after x amount of sales would be motivating.

I saw in other comments that this is your first game without a tutorial, so huge props for that! Well done!

I love this idea of being a shop owner selling to adventurer's, cool way to interact with the theme. You made a good foundation for a cool gameplay loop. I never got 5 out of 5 but managed to get 4 out of 5 a few times. I like how the needs and solutions are open to interpretation, it requires a little experimentation to see what qualifies. Really unique entry, well done!

Really neat take on the theme.

It was quite challenging to find the right items sometimes but it made me think carefully what to choose.

Well done!

Neat concept,  I never could actually get higher than 3/5 when going through my selections. Wasn't too certain on what item would count for what purpose as some felt vague if it would meet the requirement or not sure if i just over or under thought things but hey at least most of them might make it back alive maybe.

Great work though always happy to see new people enter the jams!

Thank you for playing and letting me know what you think..much appreciated. Also yeah happy to be here and to actually finish something! I'll be back!

Very cool idea! It was interesting trying to sus out what they were looking for.

Thank you. I wish there was more I could flesh out as some mentioned in their comments but glad to have had something to submit.

Congrats on the first game jam!! I like the story based take on expeditions and like many others felt bad for my doomed explorers... Does failing in one run mess up your shop inventory for the next story? I feel like I was always hitting 2/5 needs simply because no other item was remotely close to useful (like a rain poncho or climbing axe in the desert oasis? surely not?) Still really fun though, good job! ^^

Developer(+1)

Yeah for the most part the items and the explorer needs are being selected mostly at random, I wish I had more time to address that, mostly just glad I got it working and submitted in time. Would really need to address the balancing. But thank you for giving it a try.

This was interesting. I don’t think I ever got a 5/5, is it always possible? I wanted to get into it, but I didn’t really feel like I had the feedback necessary to improve.

It would have been nice if there had been a more specific conclusion afterward that hinted at a different choice you could have made. Something like “they nearly died of thirst and never used the solar blanket at all” or “they were able to use the head lamp to scare off animals.”

Regardless, nice job!

Thanks for the feedback, yeah I see how that would be a good way to give the needed feedback.

I really struggled with balancing, and if i had more time I would have worked on that some more. This is my first game without using a tutorial so having to think about how to balance it was new to me and something I will keep in mind more for next time.

This was cool! I kept  feeling bad for the adventurers so I had to restart so I could have "perfect" runs. Great concept and execution! SFX on point too

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.

Cool concept!  I really struggled to figure out what people wanted and when I tried to get creative (maybe a stove is also a light source?) sometimes it didn't work.  It would be a neat if there was ultimately a way to deduce all the needs that each item met, like maybe you slowly filled out a survival guide after each successful expedition

Developer

Hey yeah that would be cool too. I struggled including the tags for each item. I wasn't sure if that would make it too easy. Thanks for the feedback!

I definitely like the concept and gameplay; definitely a challenge at times to figure out the right loadout.

Simple, satisfying sounds. Reminds me of the NYT Connections game — clean, minimal, and fun to play.

Developer

I had never played NYT Connections but thanks for mentioning it. It's a fun little word game.
