Matthew Griffin

Matt Griffin is a game writer and researcher currently developing an academic book focused on publisher Choice of Games’ community of literary authors who are creating lengthy (some well over a million words!) interactive novels using ChoiceScript, sometimes as their first exposure to writing interactive texts. He is also himself authoring an interactive (horror) novel to explore why we tell (scary) stories to each other, and the imaginative space fostered by the experience of stepping into murky, unknown spaces with a reader. He writes regularly for ChoiceBeat Zine, an indie online zine focused on interactive fiction, visual novel, and odd narrative games space, as well as other articles and papers focused on interactive narrative, additive manufacturing, and biofabrication.. He teaches grad senior thesis in interactive design for the NYU IDM program and an artist- and engineer-centric bioprinting/biomaterials course for NYU ITP. As a longtime conference producer he is co-founder of the digital fabrication educators conference Construct3D, and the Conference Chair for NarraScope 2025 for the Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation, PA. He lives in Brooklyn, NY with his lovely novelist wife, and darling infant daughter.
