Not very fine to play.
Can you elaborate as to why? As in, is there potential, but that potential is being hindered by one or more issues, and if so what? Or do you see no redeeming features?
Solid entry for the jam, with a nice interpreation of the theme. The only thing I did not enjoy was the, to me, seemingly random nature of sending 2 blocks or 1 at the end to the bucket. That really can throw of a plan and lead to frustrating player experience. Some kind of system, where I could tell when that would happen would greatly negate those moments. Otherwise give it some visual polish and you have a cool game!
I'll have a think about how to make this clearer in the game, but for now, for your understanding, it sends two blocks if they are both the same. Otherwise it only sends one.
Cool concept! I enjoyed getting into the rhythm once I figured out the rules. I agree with of of the other feedback about wanting some time challenge, for the last level i basically just focused on the swap button that was right before the square, and paused until the right color came in the row below, then swapped, unpaused, repeated. If you couldnt pause and you had a little box/cursor you could move from swap point to swap point with arrow keys then press space to swap instead of clicking buttons, I think that would get super chaotic and fun. Well done!
This is a great concept! Seeing the staggered swap buttons on the second stage really wrinkled my brain. Once you figure out how to focus on a single lane/color and reroute from other lanes, it becomes more of an execution challenge than a problem-solving challenge, but another pass at this to add a more aggressive time limit, (if there is one at all) or some other element to reward players who can juggle multiple lanes would go a long way. I really had fun with this! And congrats on having a clear and functional UI in your very first Godot project.
Please keep working on this! After actually reading the description it turn addictive, the sounds are great too. Starting small with black and white before expanding was a really great choice. Keep it up, can’t wait to see another layer of polish.
Had a hard time understanding the game and an even harder time playing it correctly, I got punished quite often by the randomness stopping my streaks every few blocks.
The music is pretty sweet and the VFX is nice but the game might need more rythm, like a button, to accelerate the speed when you are already set up.
I think it needs some more mechanics which allow for 'perfect' plays, without wasting any blocks (but I have no ideas what those mechanics would be), and then a mechanic that encourages the player to pursue that style of play (like a score). And then probably a tutorial as well. I'd prefer an 'invisible' tutorial, but I'm not sure how I'd go about that.
As for the music and sfx:
- the sfx is from: https://kenney.nl/
- the music is from: https://patriciataxxon.bandcamp.com/album/necrosphere64
I played it again just to make sure I didn't miss something and I can't seem to align 7 white blocks because I never get 7 blocks in a row, even though I did black nearly instantly.
Maybe as a tutorial you could go for an incremental objective, starting with just 2 blocks. It's not as invisible but having the 3 or so first turns skipped manually by the player could also be a way to allow them to understand the mechanic by counting.
Adding combo multiplicators for streaks of packages could be another way to add a reward for the most skilled players but it can only majke sens once the randomness problem is fixed, because having your combo broken by an unlucky block placement that you can't do anything about would be very discouraging and frustrating.
Just finished it, turns out the first level was the hardest with less packages to chose from. Good game ! Keep it up, I hop you'll work some more ont this one :)
The concept is neat ! Could be a really cool and addictive game with a little bit more polish maybe GG !
Simple idea but really speeds up! the sfx is really satisfying also.
