Hello! I'm RULY, the head of an up-and-coming studio called Dreamboat Games. We're a small team working on our debut game called Pursuit of Life. I'm looking for an experienced pixel artist who can help design the characters for the game. This is a paid role and there is a lot of work to do so I need someone who's passionate and ready to pump out high quality sprite sheets quickly. I'd prefer someone who isn't already working on their own game, so they can truly dedicate their time to this project.
A little about me, my name is James but I go by RULY. I work in the games industry as a AAA game dev at a prominent studio. I can go into more details with the right candidate but I don't want to use that association to promote this project. Pursuit of Life is my approved side project. This is not my dream game or some passion project, this is a commercially viable product. Source: I'm a business student (I will graduate in September at the top of my class).

Pursuit of Life is an ambitious, top-down 2D life-simulation RPG built in Godot 4. Players start as a high-school grad living with their parents in the suburbs and must work their way to become a success in a bustling city. The game is designed to be a sandbox where every choice truly matters. Think Stardew Valley-meets-The Sims, but with a heavy focus on narrative and with elements of a management sim.
The game has already been in development for about a year. It started out with just me and a programmer but we recently expanded to a team of 2 programmers, 1 artist, a level designer, a musician, and myself: lead designer and producer. I've also become very well versed in the games business in my time at university.

The game uses LimeZu's assets for the environment with many custom additions. These are in-engine captures, not mock-ups.
Here is the first official song of the soundtrack, composed by our very own Rei Kitakaze to give you a better feel for the game. Note that this track is still a work in progress and not representative of the full quality of Rei's work.
Anyway, I'm looking for someone who can dedicate at least 15-20 hours each week to the project and can produce large sprite sheets at high speed and quality. I understand that this role won't be for everyone, especially those already busy working on their own project, and that's ok. I'm looking for the right person. Someone with a strong passion for pixel art, particularly character design. Someone who can do a LOT with very few pixels (the environment is made of 16x16 tiles).
If this sounds like you, please reach out to me at at ruly5201 on discord. Just be sure to send a message request explaining that you're from itch because i get a ton of spam invites on discord due to my day job (AAA game dev).
