Super fun idea. Music and art are perfect complements that create a lovely atmosphere together. Enjoyed farming and building, but didn’t survive for long so far. I have a couple of questions.

  1. I didn’t understand the orb’s mechanics. I built a few of them and then clicked on the map, but they just vanished.
  2. Maybe I missed something, but when I made a mushroom stew, it didn’t appear in the inventory. Is the food consumed right away?

It sounds like you built homing orbs that flew towards an off screen enemy once placed. The mushroom stew probably went to a different part of your inventory once crafted, once a slot is cleared in the inventory the newly crafted item takes it instantly. I assume when you crafted the stew you ran out of mushrooms and/or water so that cleared up a slot or two and sent it to a part of your inventory you didn't expect it to go. Thanks for the compliment, hope this helps!

i agree with braveking that a tutorial would be good. the sign helped some, but i'd love some more info on what the different crafted items do. the blue orb seemed simple enough with orbiting the player, but the other orbs either sat in one place, or shot off immediately after i placed them

this is fun though! the slimes are cute, and the music is absolutely lovely. looking forward to seeing more of this one c:

Thanks, I updated the signs to include more information. My hope is that players will figure things out on their own through trial and error, it's a roguelike and ideally people will die at least a few times before fully grasping the game. The sign now outlines what different orb types do, maybe I'll make a trailer that helps the player understand, I don't want to give away too much though.

if you don’t wanna give away info, that’s completely fine too!! i’ve been trying to get through rating submissions so i haven’t been able to stop and sit with anything for too long. but i absolutely see the appeal in discovery c:

Very nice crafting game, always love games that allow you to play as the "monster".

Some humble suggestions:

-There should really be some basic sound effects for basic actions like mining/succesful attack/being damaged/picking up items.

-A short tutorial (or at least some help screen with basic commands) would be pretty nice too instead of throwing you into the action right away. Or some signs that show messages with basic tips placed next to the start position, so newbies can check them out while a more experienced player can just ignore them.  Being thrown right into the action with lots of item crafting options but no idea what they do felt somewhat overwhelming.

-Since it's a roguelike, some sort of "score screen" that shows up when you die showing your final score and statistics like "mined X items" would be nice too instead of restarting the loop instantly.

Quite cute and charming art (even the mineable rocks have faces), background music is good too, great work so far!

I appreciate the input and the tutorial is something I'd been considering for a while, I just posted an updated version where the player can read signs placed next to them at the start of each level. Hope this helps, glad you enjoyed the game!

Good game! How to escape from bats?

Developer(+1)

Thanks! You're supposed to kill them.
