Nice hose physics, although pretty confusing when it cliped through walls. I think some more feedback on actual extinguishing would be nice. Quite a satisfying game concept!

I like the minimalist visuals. The wiggly hose was very pleasing but it felt strange that I could drag it through walls. Like others I experienced extreme lag as the game progressed.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah it's annoying. I used avian2d for the physics and the hose setup is mostly the same as in their chain example: https://github.com/Jondolf/avian/blob/main/crates%2Favian2d%2Fexamples%2Fchain_2...

Not sure if i did something wrong or if that's just the limitation of avian...

I've had trouble with avian joint systems producing forces that overwhelm the simulation which might cause stuff like the hose clipping through walls. It's tricky to set up.

I love the hose!! Extinguishing could use more visual feedback. And you could've gotten a huge aesthetic boost by throwing a simple outline postprocess on, I think

Developer

Great input, i mkght try that! Althogh i think the super minimalistic look also has something to it.

I like how wiggly the hose is and how spraying water pushes you back juuuuust a bit :D

Unfortunately, the game started lagging too much to play after I extinguished about 75% of the flames. But neat idea! I bet that if the water was physics enabled for a few seconds before despawning and pushed stuff around, this would be really cool!

Thanks for playing the game! That would indeed be nice but i had to disable collision between water and obstacles as otherwise you couldn't reach flames that were on an obstacle.

Still not quite sure where the lag is coming from, i'll take a look and update the game after the rating period.

I didnt really get the game part of this though, but extinguising the fire worked. There was performance issues and also some weird audio glitches.

Developer

Yeah i agree, i just ran out of time unfortunately. I think flames are not properly despawned or get spammed for some reason which would explain the performance issue.

Thanks for the feedback!

i had some performance issues both on chrome and firefox. also i had some difficulties reaching some of the fire spawn points. The idea and graphics are good, but this needs a little bit more work.
