This is a really nice game! It reminds me of QuaRkZ, an old flash game I really enjoyed, but with a more interesting chain reaction. It's pretty fun to watch the dots continue hopping after the end of the game, too.
Oooh, yeah, that does look similar; I hadn't seen that before!
Glad you enjoyed the game! :D
Great use of theme, and simple enough to easily pick up - that's the sign of a good game.
Thank you! I had fun making it; I'm glad you had fun playing it :D
Lovely concept, wish I had someone to play this wish right now! If only there was online multiplayer, but I know that adding something like that would have been a bit much for a jam :D
I love how, similar to Go, everything can look like a sure win for you, only to be totally flipped the next moment because you didn’t quite see through the opponent’s strategy! The AI is also surprisingly human-like. I’m sure there is quite a few smoke and mirrors going on, but from a player perspective, this is very impressive!
I would *love* to explain this more to you, I'm gonna DM you about this :D Long story short, each of the three AIs is based on something I imagine a human thinking at different skill levels.
Online multiplayer is definitely going be added after jam judging is done; I happen to know a guy who *loves* network protocols that I can definitely convince to do something :D
Fairly novel concept, fits the theme well, and fun to learn. Would have loved some harder enemy AI. Nice work!
Thanks for the review! I went in with a plan for the harder levels of AI, but I didn't figure out how to get it to run without blocking the main thread on web. I'm planning to learn Web Workers after the jam (and just use threads on native) and implement two more levels of difficulty. Until then, I'm glad you had fun!
the situation can flip in an instant ... i had the whole board except one tile to the blue player ....and in one turn he took it all ! sadeness ensued.
That does seem to be how Hopdot ends a lot :) Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice idea and pleasant animations. It's impressive that you also managed to get some AI in this!
I only wish I could've done more! Thanks for the rating :D
