good idea, but i felt that i never knew for sure how well (or more likely bad) i was doing. Also there was some delay on the sounds so i was not always certain i was hearing the one i expected to.
I like the concept, but I’m never really sure if I connected things right. The bomb seems to allow anything around it to connect, not just to and from the bomb? Also I’m not sold on sound being one of the criteria, especially since some of the more detailed shapes can trigger the sound many times as they rotate.
Disclosure: the browser version did not work for me so I compiled it, not sure if that affected anything.
I couldn't make a second chain after my first chain. Tried in both Chrome and Firefox, just never let me start a second one. Maybe I'm confused? Cool concept
I did not understand how to chain stuff, maybe due to bugs... not clear how it would work. nice idea though, my wife liked the idea a lot!
Thank you for the feedback! Sorry for the confusion, I've added a bit more about it in the description that hopefully explains it better. I'll repost it here just for convenience of anyone on this page.
How Matching Works: Each piece has 3 properties, its shape, its color, and its sound. To match a piece to its neighbor it must share one of those 3 properties. The bomb can match to and from any piece. If you run into a "dead end" where no valid neighbors share a property the turn is over and your score is calculated by how long the chain is. If at any point you've matched the bomb in your chain your score is deducted from the bombs remaining.
Hint: You can start on or near the bomb to make matching it much easier, there is no guarantee a path from any random point leads to the bomb.
This game is pretty engaging. The bug part is obvious because of the game jam short time. It took me a while to get to diffusing. Its not very clear how the diffusing works.
Thanks so much for the feedback! Apologies for being unclear and confusing, definitely a common theme in the feedback I've received. I've added a bit more description to the game's page to hopefully help clear things up.
I didn't really understand how I was supposed to match the shapes. It seems that you can connect them any way you want? How long do the chains have to be?
Thank you for the feedback, apologies for the game rules not being clear, I've added a bit more in the description to try and explain it, but the pieces are matched by sharing at least one of three properties: shape, color, or sound. The chains need to be >3 to count, and also need to be matched to the bomb at some point in the chain to make progress towards defusing the bomb.
