Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
We created a virtual world for strangers around the world to share the joys of generosity. The gameplay loop consists of giving a part of yourself as a seed for the soil, harvesting the plant and then giving it to someone else. In this game, there is no taking, only giving and receiving. As the player acts generously, the environment and music slowly change from a depressing mood to happy and cheerful.
In order to go through the gate, the player must receive 7 different flowers on their crown. However, that is not enough to proceed as they will discover that a minimum of 2 other players/NPCs are required to cross to the next part. Our message to the players is that it's not about getting ahead of everyone else by receiving, but rather giving to others and building relationships.
The setting is in a dystopian world destroyed by greed. The gameplay takes on an island known as the "Sanctuary of Giving". Ultimately, the player will give themselves to the roots of the sacred tree protecting the island.

An incredibly beautiful world, though players may not understand their tasks without an explanation. Additionally, requiring another vessel present to progress is a very interesting mechanic, but may not be functional at all times. When one is left to admire your work long past a time where others' appreciation has faded, what shall they do but weep?
Against all odds, here in the middle of the night on a week day, I managed to run into somebody else playing this game the same time as me! I may have rushed their experience a little, giving them all the flowers I had already been saving up, but what a cool experience to run into someone else. Very TGC-like. Good visuals, good music and sound design, and I love that the gameplay itself tackles the theme. You've done very well here.
I'm curious who it was I was playing with, as well!
Phenomenal experience. If you're reading my comment and haven't played Sanctuary of Giving, I highly recommend it.
From the leaving behind material wealth to enter, to the exploration, the seeds and the fruits, the bell, the puzzle, the cooperation, the entry, the NPC coming to help, the climatic cinematic ending.. absolute unit of an experience even beyond 3 weeks of scope.
So appreciative of your work, moreso because our team chose to tackle similar themes but in a different way. You guys should be really proud - I see Seed of Sanctuary blossoming into something beyond!
I was lucky to have another player to experience it with me - I wonder if it's one of you guys!
I really like the visuals of the game, the world is very beautiful. The flower planting and collecting mechanic is very pleasant, especially that we get to see the flowers bloom before our eyes. Also seeing the little animals roaming around and being able to gift them flowers was such a nice treat. I wish I could have run into other players, but I still had fun running around on my own. Great work, kudos to your team!
This game looks gorgeous and cinematic, and then you made it multiplayer. Pretty increadible what you achieved in such a short time. Kudos on your work. I understand the struggles making networking working and not having enough people to play with. I’ve been trying to interact with people playing our game as well. Unfortunately I did not run into anyone playing yours, still a great experience.
I loved how the flat grass texture moved with the wind. Stunning environment design, just a really good looking game.
I swear someone was playing with me rn, who was it?? I had incredible amount of fun omg. I LOVED THIS GAME SO MUCH
AMAZING JOB HOMIESSS
Hahahah, yes me and the devs have been playing with people when we can!
AHHH nicee job! You were soo nice omg, it was sooo fun, I love the little flowers, it was a LOT OF FUN. Beautiful game!
I just wanted to say a small UX/game design thing I noticed is, I could not give you a yellow flower, at first i thought it was a bug which was a bit frustrating and I got scared that you'll run away from me that I'm not giving you flowers even though you gave me so many, then I realized maybe it's because it's a crown of flowers and it needs to be of different colors so I kept going around you to understand which color you need so I compared my head to yours and noticed that I had some repetition in colors which further confused me a little, but did not hinder the game flow and the beauty and the peace i felt. The cinematic was beautiful and just wow.
yoo I like how all the animals get blinged up, they got mad drip
We also both have foxes :O
The world you created is beautiful, the particles, nature. Really liked the shader on the barrier that opens too!
The TGC style chirping is also appreciated, amazing job!
