Nice addictive game loop, I had fun mowing down trees and squirrels for a while! I think adding some more polish to the combat would really kick things up a notch, it's hard to tell when you're hitting the squirrels and when they're attacking you so some feedback like sfx or knockback on the squirrels would make it really crunchy.
Thanks! I absolutely agree, feedback and fairer ways of dealing with the squirrels were all planned, but I just ran out of time. I wanted to put a kind of "squirrel shield" that protects you from one bite per upgrade, which would allow you to avoid the first, almost impossible to avoid bite. Who knows, maybe I will implement it anyways just to see if it makes a difference. Thanks again for playing!
Cool game, I got to the 11th day. Would be even cooler if it had more upgrades (maybe more health, stronger lumber magnet) and enemy types, but it's a game jam so I get that there's not much time to add many features. I liked that there was a kind of day and night cycle where the screen gets progressively darker. That was a nice touch
Thanks! I totally agree, and all those kinds of things were planned, but i ran out of time. The day-night cycle came from how much fun it is to implement 2D lighting, and because I have a little history working on horror games, and I kept thinking it would be kinda neat to put a horror element in, but again ran out time. Thanks for playing as long as you did!
looks good
not as good as you~ ;D
Thanks for playing!
I love the squirel
Haha, they started as just a dancing square and evolved into little shits. x3
Very enjoyable game! The music is also very nice for the environment. The progression feels smooth and each time you cash in your wood it feels very rewarding. I would've liked to see more enemies and maybe higher tier trees that take more hits and yield more wood. Great job!
Thanks playing! Yeah I agree, the game just simply lacks depth... and better graphics, but mostly depth. x3
I wanted to have random daily rules that change out, but all I got was rabid squirrels yay or nay.
I am one of those Vampire Survivors players that whenever I see lots of numbers go up and lots of items drop, my brain goes brrr. that being said this game def scratched that itch. I see a lot of potential in this game as the core gameplay is already fun as is. I can't say enough good things about it, well done!
Thanks you so much! Yeah man, Vampire Survivors totally inspired this! It's just such a simple framework and I felt it could applied to more things. The other game that directly inspired this was Lumberjacked, which is awesome name, but that game just needs a lot of refinement, so I'm trying to make my own something-like-that. lol
A very satisfying game for sure! I played it for 30 minutes and couldn't get off it. I really liked this one!
Haha, thanks! Yeah I constantly had to stop playing my own game, which I knew was a good sign, but it still lacks a lot of depth. I'm glad you had as much fun as you did, I hope I can deliver a more enriching experience with my next installment!
The chopping is very satisfying. Thanks for the wide screen patch, that actually made it playable for me.
Yeah I had a friend with a 4k monitor who said it was off screen so I worked to fix it quickly, but I also wanted to be honest about the submission. Glad you enjoyed it! Let me know what you might expect to come next for this game? Any feature you were pining for?
Oh baby I can see all the buttons now. <3
Haha, I'm glad I included that hotfix then! Learned something about how Unity expects you to setup for those kinds of monitors. Thanks for playing!
Very fun indeed :0
Thanks! :D
Thanks for playing! If you get another moment, let me know what you would like to see next in the game! :3
