Good job! This game is really fun and the visuals are quite charming, very polished. The black&white aesthetic (with a bit of color here and there) is lovely.
I accidentally blazed through the section where the game introduced us to flipping the direction of the ball. I somehow managed to reach the locked door without it but then I was stuck as I didn’t know you can flip the direction of the ball. Things became easier once I discovered that!
Though I guess you had your reasons but I wonder if it could have been possible to allow the player to rotate the direction of the swing passed 90° to throw it in the opposite direction?
Also I think it isn’t super clear if the strength of the shot solely come from the distance of the club and how much of the speed of the swing matters. As your game page description suggests though, chaos is part of the design choices so I guess a bit of unpredictability is okay.
Anyway, good job! This is a really cool game you made. Congrats!!!
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
Good to know! Will redesign the tutorial part again to really force the player to use the controls that are introduced.
The controls definitely need some love post jam. We tried to go with a full 180 degree range, but encountered to many bugs and had to go with the „simple“ implementation for the time being. Will give it another shot and go trial and error from there to enhance it!
To clarify, the strength is currently determined thought the clubs speed right before you hit the ball. It doesn’t matter how far you swing it.
Thank you! :)
I was on the team that made Little Orb, which sort of reminded me of this game. It was really fun playing it, and I enjoyed the movement. The only feedback I have is that it was pretty difficult to control how hard you hit the ball, which would have been nice, but this was a really good fit for the theme.
this is absolutely lovely, really polished in such a short time too
love the presentation and whole vibe of it as well as controls (even if i was bad at it i had fun haha)
like others mentioned, more checkpoints and a bigger view would definitely make this an even more enjoyable experience
good job with this and good luck if you continue to develop it !
I liked it ! The graphics were cool, and the audio was really nice !
I think I agree with Boojiden, in that I would have liked to see what was ahead a bit. That, or maybe more frequent checkpoints so that you are not afraid to try wild shots.
However, the ball controls in themselves felt really good, so good job !
Overall, I really liked it !
This game is in dire need of a free cam or something because I felt like I was barreling unprepared into every single jump, even if I had seen the area before. The amount of precision expected of the player is a little extreme, but I do really like the idea of the mechanic and definitely appreciate the clear effort put into it. It was very fun, and was presented very well. I especially appreciate the cycling music to reduce fatigue while playing. Good Job.
Thanks for your feedback!
Having the possibility to look around, or zoom out a bit would definitely be an upgrade! Will look into ways to solve this issue past jam.
Do you have any specific points, where the needed precision was to extreme? Or was it a overall thing.
If it was a overall feeling, would you try the game again, but lower the sensitivity in the settings? Would be interesting if it makes any difference for you.
Really great music and controls, fling around the ball with varying power was super fun, the use of the theme is a little weak but everything else is overall very good, great entry!
