This game is really fun love the gameplay the story is so good and the ghost escorting the princess is so cool
i wish the NES would have had this back in the day
Great job :D
I could absolutely see myself playing this on an NES back in the day. Reminds me of a stylistic mash-up of Megaman graphics/presentation with Lolo-style gameplay. Well done!
Summary: Leave it to your spiritual companion from beyond the grave to save the day, huh? Nice to see a puzzle/challenge sort of game as part of the jam, for sure! Well done!
Adorable little stealth game! Love the characters and the story, love the graphics, and I really dig the puzzles-- very challenging!
Would've made a fantastic cult-classic on NES back in the 80's, great job!
Very cute puzzle game with a really authentic NES feel! I seemed to run into a bug where I couldn't deploy the ghost as a visibility shield when that was introduced, but I thought the first few parts of the stage were clever, and I may return again later to give this another try after I've seen and rated a few other games. Thanks for making and sharing your game!
Oh and just 30 seconds after posting this I figured out that I needed to target the ghost's placement rather than use B to activate it haha.
Great game! Over a few sessions I played this to the finish and had fun with it. You did a nice job introducing the different enemy styles and abilities so that it never felt overwhelming and you were able to layer them in later puzzles. You did a nice job infusing a puzzle game with the personality of your characters, too -- I thought that was great. And I saw your note about using the passwords instead of continuing, so that wasn't a problem. I think on the first puzzle with the 90-degree view enemies you marked the floor to give a sense of it, but I was still unsure for a while about how that worked, and how the view wrapped around obstacles -- as another commenter noted, a visualization like flashing tiles on the first introduction could be helpful, though I worked it out eventually.
This game is another interesting one because I don't think these types of puzzle games were popular on the NES, or perhaps even existed at all (I don't recall any, perhaps an NES historian here will!), and yet there's no hardware reason why they couldn't have been (as might have been the case with a first person shooter or open world game). And so with this jam, we get one! Nice!
Fun puzzle game
cute ghost
5/5
Really fun and creative game! Nailed the visuals and the feel
"PHEW!" THE PRINCESS HAS SAFELY RETURNED
The game is amazing! I loved it from start to finish, and it perfectly felt like a NES game. I like the 2 heroes, they're cool, each puzzle is unique and they're all fun to solve, I've always been impressed by people managing to make puzzle games and this one was specially great. And I sure didn't expect 21 stages when I started, the game is long and overall very ambitious.
Either the password to the Entrance doesn't work or I wrote it wrong. Also in the action I had difficulties parsing how the 90° line of sight is blocked by armors at first (although I think it's as it should be and it's not complicated in the end), there could be a way to fully see it at least once.
Awesome game!
This game is my favorite of the jam! I really liked it!
You nailed the NES feeling, it really does respect the limitations, but I didn't find the gameplay itself very enjoyable or fun at all unfortunately.
I really liked this game but I didn't end up finishing it because of a bug. After I beat the dormitory it sent me to the dormitory again, which was easy enough to get through but then it did the same thing to me with the kennel and I took a really long time figuring out those puzzles and didn't want to play through again. Other than that it is a really solid and fun puzzle game nice work.
That’s strange
I’ll try looking into it
I think it only happened with stages when I got a gameover in them. If that helps at all.
I think I've found the problem
sadly I don't think I can upload the fixed version till the voting is over
Cool game! True to nes hardware limitations, true to nes feel. 5 out of 5 from me.
