Cute little story and wonderful gameplay. Very definitely felt like Mega man and you could easily take so much more from that.

This one is like straight out of NES, great job!

I simply loved this game, the music is excellent, the gameplay is simple, and although the game is not difficult, I must admit that the boss managed to defeat me a few times until I managed to defeat him. The story is very simple, but it made me smile a little at the end. One of the best works of this Jam for sure, congratulations!

Thank you so much, and thank you playing!  I appreciate it!

I loved the game! The animations are really well done, it presents a simple mechanic but makes it fun, the music is great, and the story is very entertaining — especially the ending, which I really enjoyed. The boss battle was a real challenge for me and it was tough to beat, but totally worth it. I would have loved to see a bit more of this game. The NES aesthetic is very strong — it truly feels like a game from the console. Without a doubt, what it offers is really fun. Excellent job!

Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback!  I wish I could have made it longer -- especially after putting in the overhead time to get the mechanics and animations working -- but I was working down to the final hours and had to keep it short to get the game completed.  I usually do longer jams but I couldn't resist an NES one that only comes around once per year.  Thank you for playing it!

Love how clean that power pitch animation is!

I like that your weapon of choice is a baseball, it feels so satisfying to pummel robots with a fully charged throw.  The slide mechanic works well too (thank you for adding the little hint on the first puzzle door... that was a nice touch).

I ran into a bug at the first boss where I think I died at the same time as the sliding animation started so I was stuck in a slide pose with no hp, the boss kept on attacking and I couldn't restart, but I could still throw baseballs!

Otherwise, great entry and I loved the music, very Megaman!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your kind feedback!  Thank you also for pointing out the bug -- I had never seen it, but I went back and reproduced it and will try to update it with a fix after the jam ends.  Thanks again!

I really enjoyed your game as well! Funny enough, when I played it for the first time, I got stuck on the boss — that little helicopter. It was just as tough as the one in my game! The rock-throwing mechanic reminded me of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles — it felt just like something from the NES. Your love for that era really shines through from the very beginning.

Love the fluid animation of the power pitch! Really cool twist on the mechanic replacing megaman's chargeup shot. I liked how the speed of your throw affects solving puzzles too! Could definitely see that expanded a lot further with other interactions. I also like how it was crucial for defeating the boss. Very well balanced! Gave me a good challenge, so the respawn point was VERY appreciated so I didn't have to run the level over and over. In the replay, you'll see a few hitbox glitches with the boss where I think it *should* have damaged, but it didn't. But otherwise it felt fair and challenging enough! A nice mini megaman adventure with a funny story around the whole thing. Well done!

Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback, it's really nice to hear feedback on elements of the game design like this.  Thank you also for making these videos -- this is super helpful (and fun) to watch and it's a real service to this community of game developers in several ways.  I saw the throw that zipped through the hitbox in your video, and the gameplay around the opening/closing doors also pointed up some things I didn't anticipate -- all very helpful, thank you!

I though im going for NES Baseball, nice concept and remind me of Marcos Magic Football

Developer

Thank you!  I looked up a playthrough video of Marko's Magic Football and I see it -- it's fun to hear people's references with these games.  Thanks again!

The princess is safe, although I guess she already was, great twist at the end, I love it.

Every part of the game is super well made, I really like the music and the animations of the hero, the controls feel great and the pitch attack feels heavy and strong which is great, I enjoyed the boss fight.

The intro is well made and appropriate yet I feel like it's always better to have a way to speed up and/or skip the intro.

Great game!

Awesome, thank you so much for this feedback!  You are totally right that it should have a skip-through on the intro -- it's one of those things that was on my list for polish, but I was still writing music on the deadline day and wasn't able to get back to it.  Thanks again!

Love your art and animation! Your intro cutscenes are everything! I found the final boss to be pretty challenging due to the layout of the boss room and the long wind-up timing for my power pitches. I'd be curious to see how your game would play differently if the timing was adjusted differently for the pitches, if some movement was still allowed during the wind-up, or if you could cancel it. It's such a great animation, but it really slows down the game in a way that doesn't seem to match the rest of the fast-paced gameplay. Thanks for making and sharing your game!
