Top marks for everything that's there so far. Going after "krystals" seems somewhat meaningless since they persist after defeat, meaning if you use them in a boss and don't get it, you don't get them back and you're using the fireball anyway. Having a boss health bar would help though, show that one weapon definitely deals more damage.

Looking forward to what comes up next, hopefully with some more verticality in the levels, really put that flight to use.

We do have plans to introduce a boss health bar at some point and my current plans for the Krystal conundrum is to add a regen system where under 5 will slowly refill your ammo but you'll be better off on your first go or two without using it so as to learn the patterns. After all, classic megaman doesn't really reward you for using your ammo and still dying to a boss. It's sort of more meant for knowing when best to use them like in a speed run mode but I feel like it's very much intentional that you can go through the game mainly using the fire and the weapons are bonus. Little secret though ahh... there's no damage differences yet until we get more weapons which is coming soon(tm). Of course, that's not what we got in at the time yet so yah know.

But thanks for enjoying it!

Developer

Thanks!  Adventure Island dinos are what I used for inspiration, so glad I got close!

I really liked this game. I did find the bosses took an annoying amount of hits especially the mermaid one but the level design was great and the animations were funny. Loved the fat bees. Unfortunately I did come across a game breaking bug for me when I was fighting the bee boss and died for some reason I spawned inside the wall instead of at the checkpoint and wasn't able to continue. But I did really enjoy this.

Yah, there's definitely a bug or two with the way respawning works sometimes that it can end up kinda glitched either getting players stuck or stopping players from moving. But thanks for enjoying it!

Nice game ! I liked the appearing animations for the bosses it add a nice real game feel to it. The tutorial is also a good idea.

I liked the game, the levels are very diverse, although there are some bugs that generate too many enemies and make it harder to progress — I’m not sure if that was intentional. Some jumping sections are very tight and hard to get through. I really enjoyed the battles with the princesses, even though they were quite challenging for me. I also would have liked something to happen after defeating all three, like a scene showing that we rescued them or something similar. But with everything you added, I really enjoyed the game overall.

Developer

Thank you! The respawning enemies is intentional to be a bit more... retro? Plus I have a limiter. It's just in case you want to farm or anything as well as prevent you from, say, doubling back too often else you'll end up with too many enemies heh! And they all delete themselves anyway if you just go even further away. Still, I'm considering better ways to handle it and make it more tied to things and fair.

Also, there is supposed to be a credits card when you beat the game, it's just borked and doesn't pop up sadly. Didn't catch that glitch though until after submission. Will be probably one of the first things updated after rating.

Another 'wow' production (As in the kuro was wow'ed).  I was only expecting this a couple times during my reviewing, and this is one of them.  You really pulled off something fun and interesting.  Nicely done.

Notes:

  • lol you have to press Z key REALLY fast to jump!  :D
  • No title screen?
Developer

There was a title screen actually. We just didn't get it finished in time <.< ... I was like 5 minutes away from getting it to work but then it didn't. It'd even have audio settings and stuff but yah. It'll come out with an update in the future but yee. There's even a proper credits that for some reason isn't working either but yah know.

A missing title screen did not stop me from giving this game a high rating!

I saved the 3 princesses.

I enjoyed the game a lot. Visually the game is super detailed with a living environment, very cool animations for the enemies, both the regular ones and the 3 bosses and great visuals feedbacks while staying true to the NES visual limitations which is great. The music is kind of cool although I don't think it loops perfectly especially in the second level. The controls feel great and the boss fights are excellent, different from each other and all with the perfect difficulty for me in the Jam.

It took me a while to understand that hitting the front clamp of the crab did nothing to the point I thought the game actually lacked feedbacks on hitting enemies at first as I started with this level so I guess there could be a sound clue hinting that.

Great game!

Very cool! It badly needs gamepad support.

Developer

I'll probably add that to the next build of it then heh!

I gotta say this is very good! It fits the theme so well and you were able to do a lot with the limited time that we had. Dragan is also a very cute character! Great job!
