I love this idea, it's like a bold take on a tower-defense wave battler. Cute characters, easy to pick up mechanics, and that music track is perfect to fit the mood without distracting you from gameplay. Very fun, very addicting!

A pretty good gameplay loop, though it feels not enough recruits deal damage for the amount of enemies that spawn. Either that, or my rolls are just terrible.

Pretty nice! I felt like each wave ended kind of abruptly. Maybe wait until all the goblins get where they’re going before ending the mode?

ahhh, another interesting tower defense!!

gotta love the details of the glitched background as a splashscreen!!

an interesting concept, quite hard and the collisions are unforgiving. Sorry princesses!!

it’s hilarious that you smash the mandoline (from what I recognized) the goblins and others!!

I thought the employees would help

great job anyway!!

Now, THAT is the power of music! Smashing your instrument into the enemy! I like the upgrade options, though I feel the dice re-roll is painfully expensive, especially early on.

Notes:

  • When flipping between CONTINUE and QUIT, the QUIT stays lit up.
  • Ouch, I got completely destroyed in stage 3.
  • When starting a new game, I was taken right to stage 3.  Needless to say, I did not last long.

Thanks for playing. When the rating period is over, I'll try to go back in and hopefully release you from your level 3 purgatory.
also I think the quit staying lit up thing is because mouse selection  and controller selection are separate things- or something like that.

No doubt you want your submission to be perfect and I sympathize with that; I want the same for mine, which is why I say something.

Thanks for making this! It was fun to figure out the best way to defend with the mobs always move in an X pattern. Also really enjoyed the shop screen—it looked good and moving to the right to exit was a cute mechanic.

I have saved the kingdom! Final score : 17015. I think it took me something like 15 tries.

The game is fun. It looks, sounds and feels like a NES game with the appropriate movements and speeds, I like the gameplay loop, the different characters you can buy have cool effects and the difficulty was perfect for my taste which made it very enjoyable to me.

Sometimes I had no sound anymore and sometimes the characters I bought all disappeared when entering a level, note that it's possible that it never happened when I hadn't already lost any princess (based on my experience it was linked with losing a princess although it doesn't always happen) so it might have happened only when I would have lost anyway. Finally I think you can only switch the second character of a princess?

Pretty cool overall!

I'm glad you liked the game, and I'm glad you were able to beat it (I wasn't sure if the game was possible to beat when I submitted it)

I'm not sure with the bugs however, but it's probably because I'm a visual understander. Once the jam is finished, I'll go back in and try to find the problems so I can fix them. Thank you for the feedback.
