Great music, and world direction, I loved going into the thrusters. Gameplay-wise, I didn’t make it very far, there wasn’t nearly enough ammo and it was super unclear how effective my shots were, I wasn’t sure if firing not in RMB mode even went forward since the gun stayed pointed down. Also funny that searching a chest fired a shot. I didn’t find any abilities and I didn’t want to wander around trying to outrun the mechs, the world was just so big. I recommend starting smaller so you can get all the things across then make the world bigger. I hope you work on it more, it’s a cool foundation.

Thank you for playing!

I’m working on an update for the game that will be released some time soon.

It’s awesome that you made it to Canyon Of Desolation!

There is a different sound for a damaging hit on a target. It’s a deeper bullet crack and has those bigger sparks.

The game has realistic ballistics. It takes air drag and gravity in to account. The bullets can score non-penetrating hits and ricochets.

I’m adding a clearer effect for damaging hits!

I’ve noticed that people firing when looting chests is a common issue so I’ll remove LMB as a keybind for interacting. Now you can only loot with F.

I will change the map so that it’s clearer where to go.

Also NPCs were cut from the final game so the world will feel completely different!

Thanks again! Stay tuned for the update!

This felt very old school. That was mostly good. The music was great. Very immersive.

Gameplay-wise, I felt like you moved very slowly. Also the aiming was tough. There was no indication of whether I was hitting, and there seemed to be no indication that headshots had any effect. I just knew my sights were on them. Even though I approached slowly and I got ganked.

This was the last game I rated. (I played them all.) Because I couldn't get it to play in the browser. With a game this large it would be nice to have a download option. I did finally get it to work in the browser.

It's a good start, but since I didn't get very far, I didn't see how this is a Metroidvania.

Hey! Thank you for your feedback!

The movement speed definitely requires adjustment. You can find upgrades later to increase the movement speed.

The aiming was added last minute so it is a bit difficult and unpolished.

Could you please go in to more detail about the game not running in the browser?

What browser were you using? Did the game not load?

I was using Chrome. TBH I just have a slow connection and the game loading bar would just hang.

Developer(+1)

Oh I see! That might be and issue from itch.io’s side. The game is 73 megabytes so it might take a while to load on a slower connection.

I’ll look in to ways of making the game download faster.

Thank you for your response!

Visually are quite unique. I like the pixel texture style and enemy design. Music set a really cool tone (though I had very short riffs repeating quite frequently, not sure if a bug or by design). Definitely nails the DOOM vibe.

I admittedly didn't get super far into the game before giving up, It was very hard to tell when I was being hit so I was just sort of running around wildly and randomly dying, and then the game wouldn't resume so I needed to reload the page. One run I did manage to get a bit further and open a bunch of crates and get a different gun but then accidentally fell in a hole a died again. LMB to interact felt odd because I would fire off a bullet every time I opened a crate.

Also FYI fullscreening cuts off the text off on a 21:9 monitor, but I don't expect people to think about ultrawide monitors for a jam haha

Anyway cool submission.

Thank you for your response!

I’m glad you enjoyed the art style! It’s an attempt to make a simple unique visual style that sets my games apart.

Its so amazing that you enjoyed the OST for the game. SavestateCorrupted did an incredible job!! You can listen to the whole 52 minute OST here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USxI6vwveyo&list=PLGSlmTNz1GnUytUjhTK9LkNTHmtl9ZVWI

The riffs are because of the zone loading system. The riffs are played every time the zone changes. So it can be kind of goofy haha. There is a fix on the way for this one.

There are quite a few signposting issues with the game. Should have added a hint for the respawning.

After dying you can respawn using the Enter key. You can interact with both left mouse button and F.

The ultrawide monitor bug should be fixed in the post jam update. It has to do with the aspect ratio the game was built in.

Thank you netpro2k for playing! Stay tuned for future updates after the Metroidvania Month 28 jam is over!

This is a great style of game. FPS is always a win. Thanks for submitting this!

There's some neat world lore here!

Proper nouns, meet my death cannon. Oh wait, where's my death cannon? I'm getting kulingaed hard over here. It took me three replays to realize it was in that first crate. I think your level design would work a lot better if you blocked progression with a destructible of some sort and had the crate right in front of it, so the player couldn't progress until (1) learning how to interact and (2) get the weapon.

Your dynamic music system is killer.

I'd love to see a version of this with a bunch more game juice and some cool dodge mechanics for encounters.

Thank you for your feedback!

This is a very good idea.

I’m glad that you enjoyed our composer SavestateCorrupted’s music! He worked hard on it!

There will be an update with a significant set of features and content after the jam is over. Stay tuned!

Thank you so much for the feedback! Samimies really knows what he's doing, and it was awesome making music for this, especially in the dynamic way presented. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I'll be playing your game today!

Love to hear teams having a great experience! That warms my heart.

Ooo, hope you enjoy BucketHead: Infinite!

For some reason I couldn't play in full screen without the screen turning blue. Overall a fun game and I liked the design of the robots. Also the music was great!

Eyyy, I know that guy.

Yeah this is a glitch caused by the web browser highlighting the embedded game window. Didn’t have time to fix this until the final release.

I’m looking in to ways of fixing this issue.

In the meanwhile it can be avoided by pressing the other fullscreen button at the very bottom right. This will make the game renderer in a lower resolution - which is not ideal, but it fixes the annoying highlighting.

There will be an update with a significant set of features and content some time after the jam is over. So stay tuned for that!

Looking forward to the update! You've got a great game brewing!

Fun game and I loved exploring the world you've built. Didn't feel too much like a metroidvania, and some settings for FoV and mouse sensitivity would have been really welcome. Awesome music :)

Thank you for your feedback!

The game will be updated with a significant set of content some time after the jam is over. I will take your feedback to heart and implement them in to the update.

Can I ask how far did you get in to game? What aspects of the game did you really like? What upgrades did you find?

Developer

I did the music Thank you so much for the compliment! I'll try to get it on YouTube for easy listening today to tomorrow. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
