Congratulations on this entry, really cute looking and fun to play. The light spirit mechanics felt well balanced, and the artwork was creating a whole world you could almost touch.

I liked the mechanic, i feel the flame coming back is a little slow, especially when really near. Good job on the entry!

Great entry! I loved the flame mechanic and the levels had a good progression while teaching the mechanic. I'd have liked to see maybe one more level that put everything together, but otherwise it was a good length for a jam. My only real criticism is the flame always took the same amount of time to move back to the avatar. Even if it was right next to you it still took a long time to return, which caused a little frustration. Otherwise, very well done. I really enjoyed playing!

hank you so much for playing and for the thoughtful feedback!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the flame mechanic and the level progression — it means a lot to hear that it came through well.

You're absolutely right about the flame return timing. I kept it constant during the jam to simplify things, but I agree it would feel much better if it were distance-based. That’s definitely something I’d tweak in a post-jam update.

I also love the idea of a final level that ties everything together — thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks again for playing and leaving such encouraging feedback!

Great game and very well executed,. the scope was perfect for the Jam. Had a lot of fun with this overall.
one piece of feedback if i can be critical, is i would have preferred the animation for the flame to return to be more snappy, so i could quickly get back to moving forward, after completing the flame elements. But brilliant work!

Developer

You're absolutely right about the flame return animation — making it snappier would definitely help keep the pace flowing better. I kept it simple for the jam, but that’s high on my list for improvements post-jam.

Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback

I had fun with this. I also liked how it ended just as I was about to call it.

It's fun to beat a game, even if it's very short.

Developer

Happy to hear the pacing worked out for you

This is such a great idea. I think it'd be cool if you could jump straight back to your guy from the flame just with the jump button. As is, you currently have 2 seconds to wait for your flame to get back. The sprites are very cute. Great entry.

Thank you so much — really appreciate the kind words!
That's a great idea about jumping back with the jump button — it would definitely make things feel snappier. During the jam I kept the flame return fixed for simplicity, but I totally see how it could be improved.
Glad you liked the sprites too — that means a lot!

Great job with this game!, the art was Fire (no pun)

Developer

Haha, I’ll definitely take that pun — thank you! 🔥
Really appreciate the kind words and glad you liked the art!

I love the concept too, though it has space to improve.

I found the controls a bit tricky. In the last level I jumped quite often accidentally into the water. Also a few times the light did not kill the ghosts, instead they got me, which feels like a bug. The high ghost spawn rate in the last level was also a bit annoying, but ok, as it is intended to add some difficulty.

Otherwise the delay / wait time until I got the light in was a bit too long, which resulted in pressing q a bit too often in a short time, resulting in additional unwanted deaths, accidentally turning the light off again.
It was fun, but if would have been much more fun if the issues weren't there.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! Regarding the issue where the ghosts weren’t killed, it might be because I turned off the light’s damage too early. As for the waiting time before getting the light, quite a few people have mentioned that as well—I agree it’s too long. If there’s an update in the future, I’ll make adjustments to improve that.

Loved this concept! The art direction on this was amazing and the flame was well thought out. I had fun playing!

Thanks for playing! I’m really glad you enjoyed the concept!

Really cool concept. I loved the intro bit with the tutorial being unseen at first too :)

It was pretty short but very well made and original, good job.

(small bug : the character can be moved with either WASD or arrow keys, but for some reason the flame can only be moved with arrow keys)

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback. As for the controls, I actually updated it so the flame can now be moved with WASD and the mouse as well.

But since this is my first time joining a jam like this, I’m not sure if I’m still allowed to update the build at this point.

Nice, forgot to mention it but when I was playing I thought it would be great if you could move the flame with the mouse! :)
