In my opinion these backgrounds look extremely weird and ugly and ofcourse look very AI generated.

I apologize if this sounds like I’m bashing out, but the answer is literally in the first 7 lines of the main page:
Style wise I like it, but I understand that some people may not enjoy it, everyone is entitled to their opinion :).
Having said that, we made many manual edits to improve the quality of the images, but as I said in a previous post, we (me and Grey) are not artists, and the game is free, so we have to choose our battles, and wasting money in backgrounds is a battle we decided not to fight, since we will have to use a lot of money on new CGs, which are expensive.
