Couldn't stop playing. Very entertaining!

not sure if i do something wrong, as it never proceeds from the first level? seems like something that  could be fun

First level as in, there is only ever 1 portal on screen? Or first level, as in you got the "Closing time" end game display?
If the former - you have to buy the factory to start things up.

If the latter - that is everything we managed to do make. If you upgrade the portals once or twice things will very quickly get very hectic, so you have to be prepared if you don't want to get overwhelmed

Amazing idea! Carrying items and then weaving through the bullets is a lot of fun, but I would tone down the projectile rate. I got stuck my first time because my character got pushed to the edge and was hidden, so maybe just tighten the borders so the character is always visible, but the tutorial was nice (like the text lol) and very well integrated. Was a little confused about why you would want to buy harder portals but I guess they do give you more ice cream, the box was just labeled confusingly, and I found myself only needing two factories. If you extend the timer you could definitely get more gameplay though because it is enjoyable and the art is very charming. The throwing sound was super satisfying as well and the progression felt very natural. I think you should keep working on this!

Developer

A lot of the balance designs were made on a purely intuitive basis. We run out of time for some proper, full fledged testing. The game could definitely use a longer timer, not by much, but enough to make for more interesting choices on which upgrades to buy and when to save your cash for a highscore.
That and tweaking about the portal spawn rates and projectile rates as you said. The curve of how quickly things get overwhelming is nooooot quite there. But there is a way to get into that flow, when everything works out just right, with the right strategy

And thank you very much for all the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it! We might tweak things here and there to make for a more enjoyable experience after the jam. Get that balance juuuuust right, make some improvements. But it likely won't be anything bigger (we already got other bigger fish on our plate oof). At the same time, you never know what the future holds

really fun incremental game if work on this after the jam is over i would suggest lowering the spawn rate of the portals, other than that nicely done.

Really good game, it's a lot of fun. I think the idea is original, and it looks really nice.

really cute player character and visuals! it feels good to move around and the reticle really helps to aim the throwable items. love how crazy it gets if you let it get out of hand, plus i kinda like how theres no lives system. great work!

Very fun and polished, pushing  ice cream when hands are full is weirdly satisfying. Although when there are too many portals it becomes overwhelming and it's very difficult to do anything

The art is gorgeous! And the walking sound effect is nice x). Btw, I couldn't figure out how to sell and progress in the game? Or has it not been added yet? Also, instead of throwing the ice at X distance in front of player, you could make it so that it throws where the mouse points at. I think that would make it more engaging. Overall great concept!

Developer

You throw the ice shells at the crosshair in front of the player. If you hit the portal with em, you tame it, which gives you ice cream you can sell. Once you do that, and buy the factory, that's when the game REALLY starts. Everything before that is meant to be the turorial/preparation

Submitted

yess I know I got the ice cream. But it didn't sell when i clicked E nor Z. Where exactly do I need to sell it? I'm gonna give it another go

Developer

Ohhh, you sell them at the little stand at the top. You throw them there

Great game, the gameplay is tight nothing to say there, it has good visual's, satifying audio feedback, great gameplay loop and replayability (Good idea on the highscore system instead of life). The only lacking point is the them but maybe I just didn't get it, but none of the less this game is definitivly a good contender for first place, mark my words 馃憡

Developer

The theme is based around the portals malfunctioning and shooting at you, instead of making ice cream.  Which in hindsight, there probably was a way to communicate that better.
And thanks a lot mate! It's always lovely to see people enjoying what you've made.

Its fun and fits the theme, good job!

Fun and challenging gameplay.

Nice! I like the shop/upgrade system and I think the difficulty curve is now too steep. Destroying multiple portals at the same time is satisfying!

Developer(+1)

Definitely went a bit overboard with the spawn rates on those portals too quickly. It'd probably be way more balanced if things only got so hectic later on, the prices could use being lower as well. And glad to hear the juice is there from getting those sweet multi-kills!

Very enjoyable game. i was relieved to find out i couldn't die as endless portals were spawning around me haha. Good job!

Developer

The game aims to simulate that irl work experience. Where no matter how much beat up you get, you do have to finish your shift :P

I loveee the concept and the art/animation! Yet it gets hard very quickly, I couldn't survive for 2 minutes :,D

Developer

Thank you! It is quite hard c:
