  • Really incredibly vibes off the bat, visually and sonically, very slick. Pulling card animation can be a little jerky when caught in and out of "hand”. Gameplay lacking depth beyond placement. Placing crops together/away from each other, or close to water/resources could be low hanging fruit in the game design department to add a bit more depth (pardon the pun). Cross pollination naturally occurring when placed next to each other could be a cool way to discover too! Finding a way to incentivise purposeful placement would be excellent! Takes a while to grind for pollination. Quite evenly paced between all the milestones though! Grass apple seed is a little too OP. Lychee starts to utterly dominate the economy a bit too much, and makes lemon totally redundant, and frustrating to obtain. Could have things take longer to grow, but yield more crops to reduce ‘busy work’ from player. Can feel a little like action for the sake of action with how quick it currently is. Slowing down the pace of the game could increase the potency of it, make the player feel more impactful. Unclear you could stack cards. Worth displaying a tutorial or describing the necessary player action in the Research book. Buy all card button could be nice, lean into the ease of use at a certain point. Didn’t realise how much I could stack cards either until way later, all the way to gold!? I thought I tried it before, but it stayed blue. Perhaps I tried and accidentally hit another card instead. A clear indication of card levels could be nice, but it was a fun discovery! 6 pointed star looks a little too Vice City wanted level, I imagine there’s a reason most games utilise 5 pointed stars nowadays, but it’s nice to see variation! Really VERY moreish, I didn’t want to stop playing! It’s very nice to press and hold over all the crops and gather them all in one fell swoop too. This is a very tight submission, and it really looks the part. With more content, you could easily convince me this is already on a store page somewhere with plenty of chill, casual players! --- This trapped me for a good half hour, great game idea, the art style is perfect for the games design and the audio works perfectly too. This hits the theme perfectly. Good work, definately has potentional to be a fully released game, it gives me Chucklefish games vibes. --- Life & Lemon is very polished for a jam game, and has a great handle on what makes the game fun. I really enjoyed building up a huge hand of fruit cards to eventually make a massive Grass Apple tree worth 62.5k. The game is already in a really good state to use as a portfolio piece; my only suggestion would be to consider increasing the size of the hitboxes on trees to make them a little easier to click once they are ready to harvest. For future development it would be cool to see the terrain matter a little more - perhaps certain spaces could be better for different kinds of tree, or give a better yield or faster grow speed? I think it would also be neat to be able to crossbreed crossbreeds - combining Lavender Pear and Ruby Lime, for example. One final, very minor, suggestion would be to increase the time between planting and harvest. I know that might sound strange, but generally you're currently able to plant, build a new tree, plant, harvest, etc. without ever having to stop and think. A little bit more breathing room would increase the cosy vibes of the game. Well done on a great jam game!

Amazing game! I just kept playing until the end. That is an impressive feat for a jam game. The art style is so sweet and soothing. Sound effects fits very well and the music choice is tasteful. One of the best games I have played in the jam. I hope you work on it after the jam. I can see myself plying this in my phone, it's that fun! Great work :D

This is one of the few games of this Jam that I keep finding myself returning to. Amazing work and great polish within just 10 days :P

Thank you so much for playing! I really appreciate it :D

Truly a great game. I really enjoyed the art style and music. The smooth jazz really fit the atmosphere of the game. I can really see this being a mobile title and would urge you to think about publishing it after the jam. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I plan to keep making little updates for this and hopefully one day I can publish it as a complete game :D

I am genuinely SO impressed with the level of polish this has - from the music, animations, art assets, everything feels so tightly packaged.

I could see you making this a mobile game very easily and it's super addicting, so I know for a fact people would pay money for upgrades haha.

A few things to note:

- It did feel that it lacked a tutorial phase, and that would have been awesome because I had no idea what I was doing at first.

- Having some sort of narrative would also be a nice touch if you continue to work on this in the future. A small cutscene, or even just a little UI/HUD hints would be excellent.

- It felt a little frustrating having such a small area to click to collect my fruit. It would only harvest if I was at the base of the tree/soil and I think it might help to be able to click on the fruit as well, as trees become stacked in front of each other.

Of course, all opinions are my own, but I hope the feedback helps push it even further to the next level! All in all, a really solid game that absolutely feels market ready.

This was not only fun, but very addictive! Played on mobile, it was so chill and relaxing, awesome game. Only possible complaints I can think of is the overall size of the sprites because sometimes when I tried tapping on a tree it would not work from the first time but that might be just my touchscreen lag. Also towards the end of the game you basically have to draw multiple cards almost every time... so maybe an upgrade that adds a button to draw multiple cards or something like that? Also while I was writing that I had an idea for a unlockable button that sorts you cards. Anyway awesome game!

My favorite game of this jam ! So cute ! Cozy ! Everything is perfect, congratulations to the whole team.

I agree with the other comments about the button to reload cards in your hand. (But that doesn't detract from the quality of the game in any way.)

I love this game <3

Thank you so much for playing! I'm really happy you enjoyed it :D

This is one of my favorite games of the jam so far! The music was chill and matched the vibes of the game, and, despite looping, never bothered me. The aesthetics and visuals are really cute, the idea behind it is solid, and I had a great time meticulously putting together my orchard before collecting all my fruit in one swoop.

Most of my feedback with the game has been discussed in other comments. I think things like buttons to mass draw cards, some sort of puzzle/placement concept, and other such things would add a lot of meat to this game (though I know there was only so much time to add things). I also felt it got a bit grindy, but I think with new fruits/mechanics, that probably would be less of a problem.

Fun game! It felt really polished, and like I said, one of my favorites thus far.

Really cute and fun game

Only thing that I feel is missing would be a button to draw multiple new cards. Otherwise all of the QoL changes I wanted got unlocked as I kept playing.

Thank you so much for playing!! Love to hear the feedback, I'll add it to the list of thing to improve after the jam :D

First of all, the presentation in this game is amazing—the sounds, the music, the art style, and the overall feel are just incredible. Super impressive that you managed to pull all this off in just 10 days!

As for the gameplay, I felt like there weren’t quite enough interesting choices to keep me fully engaged. Maybe it changes over time (I only got to the 10 card upgrade), but for a game jam, I found myself doing the same thing for a bit too long. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, cozy games are all about relaxing and doing simple tasks.

If I had to give you some suggestions I would say that the hand card could reload automatically if there’s no real reason to manually click it every time you run out of cards. And maybe card placement could be a bit more strategic, like placing certain types of cards next to each other for a +50% yield boost or something similar. That small bit of decision-making could really add to the fun and depth of the core gameplay!

Overall, I really enjoyed this game! Just watching the beautiful art, the satisfying animations, and listening to the cute sound effects and chill music kept me around for a good while. The gameplay is cozy and relaxing, and I had a great time playing it. Great job :)

Thank you so much for playing! I really appreciate the feedbacks, I actually did plan to make some mechanics about card placement but feels it's kinda unfeasible due to the time constraint of a jam so it's great to hear that someone would like to see it :D

Once again I really appreciate the feedbacks, hope I can continue developing and add stuff to this game after the jam :D

Really happy to hear you'll continue working on this game! It has real potential!

Very enjoyable game! I loved the artstyle and the music was very cozy. I had some issues with placing the seeds and interacting with the bushes but it was fun!

A very cool and enjoyable jam game! The visuals are clean and stylistic, but what really impressed me was how the gameplay evolved over the course of the playthrough. Going from a relatively simplistic clicker into a puzzle game where you're trying to combine the cards in your hand in the best possible way is very clever and was a shift that I didn't expect!

The only issue I had was that I wasn't sure how to combine cards at first. From the ability description, I thought I needed to plant them next to each other on the island, so I had to re-read through the itch page to understand what I needed to do.

But that's basically a nitpick for a great submission!

Thank you so much for playing!

Your feedback really helps a ton and I super appreciate it, definitely going into the list of things to improve after the jam!!

Very impressive given the short deadline! I love the art and aesthetic.

Only problem I ran into was cards flickering a bit when trying to place seeds, but that's a pretty minimal issue. I probably already spent 20 minutes playing this lol

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing!! I have an idea to fix that problem but didn't have enough time to implement, hope I can get it done after the jam :D

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed the game very much. I wish that the cards were smaller

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I wasn't sure how big the cards should be, so it's great to know how it feel to players. I'll make sure to tweak it in the future :D

Submitted(+1)

This is so cute and I like the vibes and style. Only thing was the sound was super loud and I had to mute the webpage.

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! I'll definitely add an audio slider after the jam :D

Submitted(+1)

Cant believe you did that in ten days, I am guessing you will make GTA VI if the jam is a month long

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! This game was really fun to make so I really want to do as much as I can :D
