How does your game fit the theme?
It utilizes resource manegment and challanges the player to think about losing thier run for the sake of maybe getting more resources and the resources are everything.

Self-made & used stuff

Graphics / Art (e.g. models or textures)
Assets (e.g. free or owned)

Anything else you'd like to share about your game or development process?
I overscoped the project idea, but i had fun :)

I stationed my two guys, entered a battle, and used up my attacks- until I reached 0 actions. Got softlocked right then and there, but from what is playable, this seems pretty cool, it reminded me of pokemon go and how they stationed their gym battles. I also fell victim to the over scope, so I'm right there with you- this jam being like, my 5th.  Good luck solider lol

After you've reached 0 actions left, you can end your turn and let the enemies take theirs! Thanks for the kind words, this was my first jam so I'm still figuring things out. Super cool that it reminded you of Pokemon Go, and yeah, definitely learned a lot about scope the hard way. Good luck to you too, soldier

You said it best, when you said you massively overscoped- game jams are half about game design and development, and half about time management.

In case of jam like this, you have ten days to deliver. So what I do, is I focus on ONE thing. If my game is a shooter- the shooting needs to feel cool. If it's dialogue based- the dialogue needs to be snappy and clever. When I have this, then I add other things. For example- in my game I created the mechanic of building the tower, and once I was happy with it, I added the leaderboards.

Second- try to have a solid beta, at the halfpoint of the jam. The rest of the time is best spent on polishing, bugfxing, and  additional features.

And honestly- start with something simple! RPGs are hardcore man! No way to to it in ten days!

Definitely saw where you were going with this, and with more time, it seems like it could be a cohesive RPG! We've definitely had to learn what our scope limits are through trial and error, so keep at it! Even though we've done many small scope games, we also overscoped a little on ours. It's easy to get carried away with an idea you like! Glad you had fun either way :)

The overscoping is crazy with this one

I second everything Mechanical Duck said

This could be a decent RPG with a few weeks to finish it into a full game, but something definitely needs to stand out that makes your game different to all the other bajillion decent RPGs in the world.

It looks like even though the game is unfinished, you were able to get a lot done in the short development period. I can see the potential in this game! Advice for future jams: it's best to keep it simple, not just so you have time to finish the game, but also so that players can easily understand the game. On average, people who play your game for a game jam will only spend 10-15 minutes playing it. This means the player needs to be able to quickly understand how the game works, and be able to finish it relatively quickly. Overall though, you did a great job for the amount of time you had!

Thanks for the advice. Iโ€™ll keep it in mind for the next game jam. Since it was my first, I learned a lot.

unfortunately this is hardly playable at the current state as it is very confusing, but it is a great prototype. Keep developing it and it'll be a great game!

The game isn't bad, it has its potential to be a great survival game and i suggest you develop it further and add more things and a tutorial
