It would be great if the Tab menu paused the game just like Level up screen does. Using Dash + Lightning bolt is definitely my go-to strat, and giving the cat “Thrust”

Some spells damage the player when used, so it makes them borderline unusable, sadly

This game definitely has a cool idea

I haven't seen a survivors like this before, and there were a lot of ideas here that were exciting. I like the drag and drop system (I had a really hard time with mine, and yours is really clean), and I like that you can choose what runes you have equipped at the moment. Having a companion was a neat twist as well. As for suggestions:

  • It would be nice to have the game pause in the inventory screen like it does in the level up screen, so that the player has time to think over what they're equipping.
  • The character speed is so close to the enemy speed that the dash rune felt essential, a higher character speed might help there.
  • The bullet spell used health instead of mana, but that might have been deliberate.

The core idea is really solid and I'd be curious to see how you expand the idea going forward!

Cool concept, but there is just so much to unpack here! I'd be curious to see how your game would play differently if there were fewer options at first to let players start to build up their knowledge over time rather than be confronted with so many possible options. I also never reached the level up screen, but I definitely had fun trying to make my way there with some of these spells!

There was a fair bit of stuff to shuffle through what I was playing and I swear I only figured out some of it later on.  That said, I had leading them around in endless circles while I tried to level up as best I could.  I could not tell when everything went kaboom (and my hp recharged) if I had won... or lost; it was kinda weird.  Looking at it later, I realized your game quickly replays backwards as a way of showing you how you did.

Notes:

  • You do not have it setup where the units closer to the bottom of the screen are set above the ones closer to the top, creating this weird feeling of enemies hover over the player, like they are trying to eat them.

A very cool start to a very customizable ARPG. I liked testing out several of the abilities until I found my favorite.. Lightning Bolt!! How it felt once I got that equipped :D

I think it would be nice if the Tab menu paused the action so I could read more details without dodging enemies at the same time. Also I noticed one of the Bullet spells was hurting me too :(

After I played for a bit, I noticed in your screenshots there's even a levelup menu? I killed a bunch of monsters, including the giant eyes, but never leveled from it. But it was cool! Great job so far!
