Use of the limitation
I had a very literal interpretation of the theme, not only does the whole game take place inside of a toy box, but there also exists mythical boxes in the game which can give you any item in the game and even spawn enemies by chance(sorta like a blackhole lol).

Vicious... I don't think I got very far in this one... Need to learn how to handle multiple bishops better... If it's super heavy RNG, maybe I just needed  run with a good weapon drop,.. I thought the knife had cheese potential, but in practice, it did not seem that helpful.

The presentation seemed pretty cool though, the transforming chess pieces, and chess board motif elements that showed up from time to time.

Oh and I did run into some bugs... it seems like the mouse positioning doesn't track well especially when you resize/scroll the screen after starting. And I did have a freeze related to dying.

Developer

hmmm, I really need to edit the html for the web build lol. Multiple bishops is definitely tough, you actually need  insane reaction time to dodge them. Thanks for playing the game!

Great game, though I feel like for some room layouts (3x3 box grid room), the enemies often got stuck and it they were more hindered by the walls than I was. Over all well designed though with unique and fun enemies

Developer

yeah that's true, I probably should have included more open rooms or adjusted the AI a little better. Thanks for playing the game!

Cool game, very Binding of Isaac-y! The enemies patterns were well-designed with a nice learning curve

Developer(+1)

thanks a lot! Honestly kind of glad I spent a lot of time trying to balance the game instead of cramming for features and rooms.

This was a neat game! The invisible enemies were difficult for me. I really loved the main character's little bouncy walk, very endearing.

Developer

Thank you! Glad to see that the art wasn't too bad lol.

Hi! Overall, I liked it, but I’d suggest improving the screen scaling — the game doesn’t resize, and on my large monitor it wasn’t very comfortable to play.

Developer

Yeah, unfortunately I couldn't find a way to get the web build to fullscreen with the Bevy Engine, I'll definitely look into it in the future though. Thanks for playing the game!

Cool mechanics! I kind of missed a bit the mysterious part tho

Developer

I read that the theme was not mandatory to follow so I chose not to really incorporate it directly into the art style of the game. I just felt that I couldn't actually make good enough "mystery" themed art with my limited artistic talent lol.

oh yes, can imagine! we had to leave our confort zone to make a game with the theme :D

Really cool game!! it's challenging, but doesn't feel unfair, really good balance! Got highscore 3100.

Developer

Thanks! I was actually really scared that I made the game either too easy for skilled players or too hard for more casual players. Glad that you thought the balance was good. Congrats on 3100!
