Nice game! I think 4 hours is amazing, however, maybe a bit more time to give the game some love would do good. I found myself stuck at the 4th level maybe? The music is a bit repetitive. HOWEVER, I must cut you slack, and admit, I would 100% not be able to make this level of a game in that short amount of time! I hope it doesn't sound like I'm downgrading your game, I just want to make a few notes on things to tweak. Besides slack, I truly believe this game has a LOT of potential and I quite like the concept! Nice work, I wish you luck! ;3
love the art, reminds me of SUPERHOT, also took me a while to realize that down arrow wasn't doing anything
I liked the main game loop! It felt engaging and it progressed nicely without needing a tutorial.
Unique movement that felt really good. It had its randomness since it’s gravityb ased, but you get the hang of it. The art style is also something different I really enjoyed it.
Really nice to have some non-standard movement mechanics in there, fits the 'weird space location of the future' vibe. The 3d bg visuals are cool, but... I would rather have a better view of the action / text. Even a simple camera jump in tight and out when you click on a level / email would have been really nice.
The ending stuff is fun, if super sketch XD. As someone who usually does all my own everything, I feel you on the creative side. Sure there's a lot of free assets you can grab, and they will probably be better than whatever you can make in the time left over after coding a game and designing levels - especially if you end up giving yourself a four hour clock.
If you've worked with them before, you can put together a nice static star field pretty quickly in godot using a texture rect you assign high frequency noise to (by selecting a noise texture (fastnoise), and a cut off shader that turns anything below a certain threshold to black.
Actually, you could just use the color ramp for that... Guess I've been doing too much with shaders lately XD.
So this game is a prequal of sorts of my main project. It takes place over the development of VIRGO. Who is an important Character in it. So all the graphic ideas, besides the 3D stuff, is from that. I do agree with a lot of what you say though, I wish I could have added everything I wanted, maybe Ill make it a DLC later. But yeah the stars look awful, their texture is taken from my main project, I wanted it to have the same feeling, just came out ugly though. But yeah how you would do it where it looks nice is a skybox!
unique movement mechanics
I really enjoyed the visuals and level design, good job!
Cool game!
Next time, try adding WASD controls and work a bit more on the sound design — the audio gets repetitive pretty fast. But for just 4 hours of work — great job!
Loved the aesthetic and the gravity mechanic. Props for doing it all by yourself, not like other people ;D
