How did you choose to implement the Theme: Theatre of the Grotesque?
The game takes place inside a theater whose company hides a horrible and twisted secret. Within it, you’ll encounter disturbing behavior and quite grotesque scenes.

Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
Body horror: only in a few scenes in pixel art format — you can judge for yourselves whether it counts or not.
Stick to the Script: this happens literally at the end of the game, but it doesn't appear in the demo.
Animal Masks: Yes, six will be used throughout the full game, but only two are included in the demo.

Did you create your game in RPG Maker?

Yes

Very solid game, i think you nailed everything just right in my opinion. If I had to point out something is that sometimes the dialogue can feel a bit too much(might be a me thing tho), and I think the rabbit mask puzzle on the other dimension stretches for a bit too long, I think inputting the color code sequence once would have sufficed, and maybe change the input code to 4 digits only, cuz when you know the numbers the other 4 are kinda just busy work. The puzzle ideas themselves were pretty good and intuitive tho, I especially like the one with the owl mask with having to find numbers scattered across the map, I actually came across one before the quest cuz I saw a weird pixel on a wall, very nice! The one puzzle on the other dimension with the owl mask with symbols was also pretty neat, it did gave that "EUREKA" vibe when I figured the symbol order with the crucified bodies, and I liked the simon says moment.

Visually I think the games looks really, the pixelart is concise and the character portraits are also really well made. ALSO super nice you had time to put splasharts for the intro cutscene, it did made the beginning bit more engaging to read through!

Super nice game overall, hope to see the full release soon!

Thank you so much for your comment!!

We're aware of what you mentioned about the dialogues, as well as the possibility that some puzzles could be shorter, but we preferred to leave them that way so players can make full use of each mechanic. Still, your feedback helps us improve, and we'll keep it in mind.

As for the images in the introduction, we can tell you there will be more throughout the game to better represent certain scenes.

We're glad you liked it, and we hope you'll also enjoy the full version once it's released.

Best regards!!

I got kinda sad when I reached the end of the Demo, or at least I think I did since the key wouldn't work, so I am assuming that's the end for now, but will definitely come back to play once it's fully finished.

Story got me intrigued to what is happening with Lexi and by starters I do not trust the theatre owner/director (sorry I forgot his name), meanwhile everyone else are such interesting and charming characters, I would love to know more plus I loved their designs.

I played with normal mode so I wouldn't be worrying about the tickets, but I think that is a very cool saving mechanic I feel I don't see as often and could have interesting uses.

I can't think of any other feedback, so far it feels balanced and I liked picking the coins from the floor instead of the usual shiny sparkles for items, it's nice to see what are you're picking up. Maybe the only thing I'd add is knowing what you can interact with and what not but since there are not many objects it wasn't that bad having to click everything to see if there was something.

I couldn't quite understand the Owl puzzle, but by luck found the numbers and brute forced the code, on the other hand I am very bad with logic puzzles so you can take this with a grain of salt.

Overall I enjoyed it and good luck with the finished game! I hope I can play it once it's out.

Edit: I forgot, I love the grey alien looking lil guys dancing, I wanna dance with them.

Hi, thanks for your comment!! You actually haven’t reached the end of the demo yet, you still need to deliver the two masks at the stage portal. After that, there’s a special appearance designed exclusively for the demo.

We’re really glad you connected with the characters. As for the aliens, there will be something involving them later on… though it won’t be dancing, haha.

Thank you so much for your kind words, we’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed it!

Ohhh gotcha, I assumed I couldn’t turn them in until I had all the masks, I talked to the Director when I had 1 mask and said nothing so I just didn't tried again. Now that I think of it I didn’t try interacting with the small stage next to him either, so I will do that once I’m back at my computer.

Edit: Went back and managed to finish, struggled a bit with the mask rooms puzzles but eventually got it.

Very interesting game, I like all the custom art and the music is well implemented; the sound effects complimenting everything nicely.

It's an intriguing concept and I really liked what happens when (to try avoid spoilers) one of the puzzles is failed and everything goes to pieces.

It seems like puzzles are the main focus of the game and these are in large part well constructed and thought out. Unfortunately, I got stuck in one of the puzzles where you cannot retreat. Normally I try get past a puzzle but then go back and try something else when I cannot proceed but I was locked in and couldn't solve it so that's where my run ended (for now).

But great game - from the time I played it's very evident that you put a great amount of heart and soul into this and it's something to cherish and be proud of :)

P.S - Found one very small error. I know the game is being developed for English and Spanish players which I think is awesome. When asking Mason about information on the masks, one of the choices come up as 'Salir' instead of the English equivalent.

For the record, I played the English download version of this game.

Hi! Thank you so much for your detailed comment.

We've just noticed the translation error — we'll upload the fix shortly.

As for the puzzle, in theory you shouldn't be able to get stuck in any of them. If you'd like, you can tell us where it happened so we can look into it. Feel free to message us on Discord to avoid spoilers here.

We’d really like you to be able to finish the demo!

To be clear when I mean I got stuck I don't mean I softlocked myself out of proceeding. I mean I can't solve the puzzle because I haven't figured out the puzzle logic yet and don't know how to proceed.

My usual modus operandi is if I can't solve a puzzle, I'll go back and do other stuff in the game and come back afresh. But when I go in this puzzle room it locks you in until you can solve the puzzle to proceed. The trouble is when you don't know how to move on and it's the only thing you can do it tends to fry your brain. I'll try again tomorrow to solve it myself.
