You may have seen it announced yesterday on stream, but entries will have the opportunity to be published as part of one of two Appx N Zines in partnership with Plus One Exp. Each zine will have 8-10 entries along with some reflections by the judges.

Plus One does not restrict or take any ownership of digital rights or the right to reprint your content so it impacts nothing as far as normal digital distribution goes.

You will also get paid a flat rate for inclusion and receive a copy of the final product.
It's also totally optional. You don't need to decide until you are offered the opportunity.

If you have questions toss them down below.

Cool idea.

I try to set up my docs with print in mind. Do you have an idea of what the physical format will be? Dimensions, margins, bleed. The usual stuff.

Also, that fucking rules. Those are going to be awesome zines.

Additional question to this: does it mean that if the submission is in a different format (trifold, 8 A6 pages, etc) it will be not considered?

Jam Judge

The Jam has a format requirement so they should all be falling in the same format generally. If something is a pamphlet, folding it might be considered for an accompanying print, but things following the guidelines most specifically will get primary consideration.

"my judgement is that as long as its not taking up more paper than the rules permit then its cool if you fold it in a different way. So a trifold or (if you want to get wild) 8 A6 pages is totally cool. I guess you could also do 2 A4 pages if you wanted but that seems boring." /jam/appx-n-jam/topic/5057591/layout-question

Dank Dungeon said that as long as the total area is the same it doesn't matter if it is has a different layout.

I'm not saying it's not cool for the jam. I am saying they can't be considered as readily for a print anthology that's focused on the core format in the outline.

A5 with fairly standard print bleeds and margins Mixam templates would be a good guide.

Thanks

Question, with only participating in the Appx N Jam, we have the opportunity to be on the Zine? or we need to do something extra? 0:

Jam Judge

that’s all! We will follow up with folks after the end of the jam and judging.
