I feel like a full foot between objectives, especially with the increased deployment area, means that objectives will be very difficult to place.

I'm also uncertain why any player would choose to pick a unit for Corrupted Planets - the rules say, "may" instead of 'must' and the only potential outcomes are unchanged or bad.  This is doubly true if the unit has the Undead or Robot rule.  Additionally, if a unit is already Shaken there is no reason not to choose it - there is no possible negative effect.

The special rules are interesting to get players to move from their edges, but agree with the comments on deployment zone adjustments - maybe have the 24" deep Wormhole Flux Fields either from table edge or random at start of game/turn (or some such nonensense wording) for the special rule effects and keep normal deployment rules?

Some thoughts:

  • If the deployment zones are 24" deep, is it even necessary to have such a big board? Not much is going to happen in the back half of either deployment zone, so you might as well just make it a 4'x4' board with normal 12" deployment zones.
  • The Corrupted Planets rule confuses me. As Pluisjen pointed out there's no reason to ever use it, and it also feels a bit random thematically.
  • Teleport Shaft doesn't specify who decides where the unit is placed — depending on that, this could be either a positive or a negative effect.
  • Overall there doesn't seem to be much reason to stick around in the deployment zones long enough for the Wormhole Effects rule to become relevant.

This mission has cool, chaotic wormhole effects that make for a bloody fight! The unpredictable environment is strong, with "Direct Explosions" definitely leading to a potential "bloodbath" LOL.  Rules are generally clear and well-structured, but lethality might lead to very swingy games. Critically, this mission barely touches the "Growth" theme; its mechanics focus on destruction and random events rather than any form of expansion or accumulation.

Deploying the objectives feels like a challenge. 7 of them, with 12" between them, in a 24x48 area... that only barely fits, I think, especially if you start by putting one in the middle.
Corrupted Planet says you "may" pick a unit, but then only bad things happen to that unit, so why would you pick one?

Also is the Teleport Shaft meant to teleport you anywhere on the battlefield near an enemy, or did you mean "teleport up to 9" from your current position and neat near an enemy"?
