Hello, thank you for participating in the first OPR Mission Jam! Please email marketing@onepagerules.com so that we can send you the participation models! Please include 'OPR Mission Jam Participation Minis' in the subject line.

This is a really unique mission. It almost seems more fitting of AoFQ.
Neatly presented, clearly explained. There might be an issue with balance as is often the case with asymmetrical games, but it does seem like a hoot to play.
The special rules are what really sold me on this mission.
All in all, a top tier submission in my books.

Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun writing this! I considered AoFQ, but I wasn't familiar with it enough to feel confident in writing a mission in time for it. So I stuck with what I knew for now.

I like this one. Evocative setting and narrative, and the special mechanics sound fun. In particular, the Stories seem like a neat opportunity to kitbash some funky models (or finally find a purpose for that one thing you painted for no reason ages ago).

The 'growth' theme is definitely there on the narrative side, but it isn't really supported by any concrete mechanics (mind, this is only relevant in the context of the jam; it wouldn't actually make me enjoy the mission any less if I went and played it).

My only balance concern is that the objectives centered around model survival might cause some issues, since OPR unit design is balanced around the assumption that surviving isn't the end goal — for example, you can keep Ambush models safe by only deploying them on the last round, and activation count becomes much less important when listbuilding (at least for the Seekers) so you can dump a lot of points into expensive but very powerful models.

Thanks for the comment! I figured I was taking a bit of a risk regarding the different objectives. Good to keep in mind for the future. Perhaps next time I write a mission like this, I'll consider focusing on a limited pool of factions for it.

Yeah, the Story models were inspired by a mix of the Malifaux Story keyword & Turnip28's approach to army building.

I'm not sure if limiting the factions would be helpful (almost every faction has Ambush, for example) or in the spirit of OPR mission design. Since Ambush is probably the biggest issue, perhaps a fix might be to add a rule along the lines of, units that aren't on the table by the end of like round 2 or so don't count towards the total? Or alternatively, adding some kind of additional objective that the Seekers need units on the table to achieve, such as finding and/or securing an exit.

Developer(+1)

Ah, that makes sense. I wasn't sure if some factions just had a lot less Ambush, but those other alternatives sound great.

I'll definitely look into doing another round of editing after the scoring is all over. this & other comments have been very helpful!

Looking forward to it!

I liked this one, though you are showing your age with the library card ;) Also the image of the Seekers zipping down a hall on a book cart while being chased by monsters is very Scooby Doo!

Developer

Thanks! In my library, at least, a card of some kind is still swiped when checking something out. Glad you enjoyed it!

Nice theme, the way the three stories gain their abilities is a bit unclear. It says "two abiltiies", but three are listed. Is it randomized? Does the librarian player pick and choose? This is further complicated by two of the rules having Tough values - do I choose one of these and then the regeneration ability? Otherwise I like the theme and execution!

Developer

I think I see where the confusion is. The Hero, Monster, & Trickster are intended to be the three Story models, & each model has two abilities specific to them (Tough is an ability, for example).

Basically, the intention was for the Librarians to have a Hero, a Monster, & a Trickster, with their own set abilities already so there's no need to choose anything. What's listed is what the Librarians get.

I'll definitely keep this in mind next time I write a mission. Thanks!
