How does your game fit the theme?
This game literally fits “Getting Started.” The player begins completely clueless—no attack, no dash, no block—and learns to game by watching bosses, stealing their abilities, and slowly “getting started” as an actual gamer.

By the end, they’ve finally “gotten started” enough to face… themselves. Because what’s harder than starting? Fighting your fully-leveled future self.

Great idea, and game was nice and simple. I will say, I might've cheesed this game too easily. If I just let the enemies follow me towards going into a spike, i just win the game haha. Great work on your first game jam!

Love the art style. One small issue I had was the music doesn't start over when you restart the game, it just adds another music player ontop.haha. Otherwise, good job

This wall was my best friend, it protected me from evil 🥺

Interesting idea ! I’m not sure why i lost, nor why I won some fights, so I think adding some feedback would be a nice quality of life feature !!

I like the style and the colors you used. The concept is neat too !

I like the little scenarios in the screenshots, would love to see them drawn like the in game style with the same palette !

Good first game, could use some indication of damage being done. A screen wiggle, a sound effect, a flash, a knockback, a damage number popup that fades, something.

I was planning to add all of them except the flash and the damage number that pops and I wanted to add a health bar for each boss, But - unfortunately- the time didn't save me and I made it in 5 days instead of 10 because I had another work to do.

The concept was good but there are some big bugs and the dash don't work.

Really interesting way to approach the theme and cool design overall. Some bugs but that's normal on a game jam. Congrats on completing your first one!

Very creative concept and amazing art , at first I didnt read that you have to learn to attack and dodge and I spent like 5 minutes refreshing the page thinking it was a bug lol :b

But the game is very creative and fun to play, I think you should add a tutorial/intro at beginning but every aspect was 5 stars

I remembered! It took me a little while to figure how to beat the first one, I thought it was a bug ^^

Very creative concept that fits the theme quite well! I also really like the drawn on paper style :) Especially with you mentioning this being a prototype, I can definitely see this having potential to be polished and expanded. Very well done and congrats with your first jam.

really cool concept! i love the creativity behind the narrative and game flow.

I really enjoy the art for this game, its definitely a  unique look and you don't see many games now days with the top down style. I liked the concept, but I think having the future controls you'd get at the top left made me think for a second the game wasn't working because I didn't understand I couldn't use certain controls yet. Also, some kind of feedback when you hit an enemy / when they take damage like a red flash or knockback could have more clearly communicated how I was meant to kill the first enemy or if my attack was working.

Developer

I ran out of time exactly when I was working on the "Knock back" system so I couldn't add it to the game

Cool idea!

The idea of the game is really good, though you can just cheese it by standing behind a wall.

Nonetheless, the game is not bad and you can definitely make even better titles if you keep up with this game designer brain.

Thank you for positive feedback, I made the game in 5 days instead of 10, so I ran out of time to make another things(juice) like : Idle animations , dash animation ,etc....

I like the idea a lot! The controls were a little difficult to get the hang of and I would say the attack feels a little unresponsive but it has a lot of potential. Good Job!

These controls are so hard!!!!

Fun idea! A bug I noticed is every time you die and restart the music gets played again haha. I died many times so there was like 20 music tracks playing at once. Overall cool game!

Love the concept, it's a really fun idea. Also love the art you created!

Really creative approach to the theme, and how most of use go on and play games… without a tutorial of course, we will figure it out :P

I was quite confused until I figured out you needed to use the spike walls to "get started". Great twist and very creative! Also the art you drew looks lovely.

My only concern is when clicking retry, the music audio gets doubled, which gets noisy after a few deaths lol
